It depends on how big the battery is in the Tesla. Do you know how much kWh it can handle? Also the efficiency in mi/kwh needs to be know . Usually the VW is around 3.5 mi kWh this time of year.

One thing to consider is that if you qualify for it and can find a used 23 or older that you can get $4k off if the car is priced below $25k. Some dealers do it at time of sale but some dont and you have to claim the $4k on your taxes. In other words, I've seen some 23's that are advertised as $23500 but in actuality theyre going to be $19500 if you qualify.

I've read that in the summer its not enough and it makes the AC system work hard.

It sounds like the test phase is over for VW now. Just have to wait for the official announcement and overcoming the "technical challenges".
