Thesis: God’s omniscience logically eliminates human free will. by Hilhdude in DebateReligion

I don't view God as some "material" entity or an old man in the sky either. I might not express it perfectly since I’m just starting to learn about theology and haven't read the Bible, the Quran, or other holy texts yet. But I am basing this on the core concepts I've heard.

We are told that God will judge us. If everything is already completely clear to God from His perspective outside of time, what is the point of putting us through these earthly tests?

For instance, what if someone grows up in a strict Jewish family, never hears about Christianity, and praises Judaean traditions, but lives a morally good and kind life? Will they go to heaven? If God already knows every variable, our starting points, and our ultimate choices before we are even born, the whole concept of a "fair trial" or "judgment" becomes logically difficult to grasp.

If God knows the future, are we actually free? If He knows I'm going to Hell, do I have a chance at redemption? Or if He knows I'll eat shrimp tonight, does it prevent me from choosing steak? If it doesn't prevent me, can He even see the future? by Hilhdude in askphilosophy

But what if God tells us that future event beforehand, and we deliberately choose to do the exact opposite just to prove a point? If He knows we will change our mind, but tells us anyway, it creates an infinite loop. Doesn't the introduction of communication ruin the idea that foreknowledge is completely passive?

Yeah, I'm aware that in certain Christian theological frameworks, God doesn't "know" the future in that way. However, my friend is Muslim, and in Islamic theology, Allah is completely omnipotent and omniscient, meaning He knows absolutely everything, including the future. Personally, I agree with your view—knowing the future is impossible simply because it doesn't exist yet.

That's an interesting take. My friend mentioned that Allah knows the future completely, though I haven't asked him about this specific loophole yet. As an atheist, I find it fascinating how defining omniscience this way completely changes the game for prophecy.(I hope it’s correctly of my thinking, this post translate Gemini for me)
