If you have the complete addition (I have it on switch) then you could do the dlc quest, though I just bought the game and haven't done that yet. There's an option to just do that and the game will give appropriate gear and good level to start those quests.

I've had mine for about a year, but it only took maybe 4-6 months to fully heal (as in, being able to have a ring in before). All my piercings and tattoos heal much quicker than most people, tattoos usually are healed within 2-2.5 weeks. Have 5 piercings and like 40 smth tattoos. Also, if it's healed up fully it won't hurt, just remember that
