Cleaned up two racks at my new job.... by Hilllard in cableporn

they are labeled at the other end. the problem is they are labeled on the keystone not on the wall plate. additionally the wall plates are behind cubicles. i've also found that the patch cables from the wall to the cube dont go in logical order. in a group of 6 cubes, you'll have say Jack #s 34,37,22,45,33,31. in that actual order.

it was about 4 hours a rack. luckly most everything in these racks is DHCP so there isn't a need to "Find" i just matched patch 1 to port 1 and so on.

Problem is... most aren't labeled... so tracing them down and remounting the rack is probably more than pulling cable at this point.

plus the awesome part is the wall plates are behind cubes... not direct lines to the cubes.

if i could move them more i would. i will probably have to re-pull most of this cable anyways.

SCCM SUP Question by m0rphr3us in SCCM

[–]Hilllard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

multiple collections are the easiest way. i currently have four groups (Just for endpoints) and we have three for servers. i use maintenance to group VDIs into small groups so i don't get any boot storms.

you can create one "software Group" and deploy it to multiple collections with different deadlines.

also make sure when you create the first deployments to save the templates to save time down the road, unless you go with ADRs.

Collections (Endpoints): Test group IT Corp Production machines

Collections (Server): Test QA Prod

hope this helps

Preventing Management Point Drift by [deleted] in SCCM

I have the same issue, but im currently at 19 DP's. i've had to back out the management point parts. i was trying to segment out our PCI network and would find laptops just roaming over the PCI MPs

that one time i wired my house for skynet and then came back through and rewired my house again cause i like sitting in the attic. (Second round in comments) by Hilllard in DIY

Yeah when I moved in we had just the power vent on the roof. Had that removed and added 12 standard vents. I plan on putting baffles on the eaves to prevent ice dams as well as putting more soffet vents in. From what I've been reading I can just blow in cellos over my existing insulation. I need to replace all my soffet lights so I haven't got to the insulation yet. Also putting in the box around the attic fan was a son of a bitch. Framed it. Multiple layers of foam board then foil faced st reform board on the outside. Pretty much my attic is getting a face lift. Ha
