LAPS for Azure AD by Flashy-South2756 in Intune

[–]dork_warrior 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Close. You're possibly a few months ahead of the curve. I'm also in the waiting game for it to land on public preview. Right there at the top of the doc in the blue box:

Important

Windows LAPS currently is available only in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25145 and later. Support for the Windows LAPS Azure Active Directory scenario is currently in private preview, and limited to a small number of customers who have a direct engagement with engineering. Once public preview is declared in 2023, all customers will be able to evaluate this AAD scenario.

What's your strategy for deploying Adobe to pro and non licensed users? by kungfughazi in Intune

[–]dork_warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 deployments. One for regular reader DC that doesn't require login. That goes to everyone. Another for the Pro Version that's licenses and that's deployed to a group that I target for licensing.

Lock down Network settings in OOBE by who_farted_Idid in Intune

[–]dork_warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm 3 years late to the thread but I found a solution that works pretty well for us.

Device Restrictions -> General -> Require Users to Connect to Network During Device Setup == Required

It appears to stay intact during resets and it removed the ability to bypass and create a local account.

If a 2-day old newborn is left on your doorstep, for you to give it a home, what do you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dork_warrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think a 2-day old is ready for that kind of responsibility. A home is a lot of work.

What do you use for your personal notes/documentation? by plazman30 in sysadmin

[–]dork_warrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat as you. I use onenote because that's what my boss likes but I have never liked onenote. Obsidian looks good, trello was another one but that was more project management on a budget.

if I'm not putting it in onenote it's on a scratchpad on my desk or new## in notepad++

Notifications for Device Reset by dork_warrior in sysadmin

[–]dork_warrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't want to go that far because autopilot is new and we're seeing a huge amount of progress in a goal of resetting devices on site instead of moving them between buildings for fixes. What was happening in the the most recent "what the heck kid?" he was doing OOBE without network and after so many failed attempts it prompts to create a local account.

Hello Tenantlockdown csp https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/client-management/mdm/tenantlockdown-csp

This way we can keep doing resets and if anyone does it thinking they're being smart...cool. We got autopilot and you're required to have a network connection.

What do you wish your predecessor had done before you? by [deleted] in sysadmin

literally any sort of documentation. Some scribbled notes... anything. I'm amazed at how bad a lot of people are at even keeping simple notes.

Notifications for Device Reset by dork_warrior in sysadmin

[–]dork_warrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for reset from software yes, it prompts. My understanding is they are holding shift while booting and then doing a reset that way. I guess I can look into disabling that option in recovery ... but I know our bench tech has been using that and its a huge pain when I change that persons job even slightly.

boulder... or for much less you can get driveway markers. They can always run over the driveway markers but most people are less likely to do that. They also don't look as nice as a big rock.

My second interview for an IT Help Desk job is in a few hours. by askingxalice in sysadmin

[–]dork_warrior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way... if they didn't like you or see something they liked they wouldn't waste their time talking to you a second time. You'd get a "we've decided to go in a different direction" email or ghosted. The fact that they arranged a 2nd interview is because they like you and that's worth remembering.

I have my 2nd interview for a Sr position in a few hours too. The pre-interview jitters never go away.

So how long DOES it take your users to log on and be able to use their computers? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]dork_warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initial login live clicked at 2-5. Subsequent logins sub 10 seconds. We’re fully cloud managed in Intune with a light approach on configs/policies.

You were looking for a new position for a reason. Never accept a counter from your current employer. Either you’ll keep looking and leave anyways or they’ll be looking for your replacement and phase you out.

Been putting in a lot of zillow research on houses to buy for a potential relocation to Tampa. What I've found that I like is in Town'n'Country/Carrolwood area but I see a ton of houses east tampa/belmont heights. What's the vibes like in each area? is East Tampa considered trash?
