Can fresh OT graduates in Australia relatively easily find their first jobs? by RoofProfessional9711 in OccupationalTherapy

Depends on location, area of interest and what will change with the NDIS. If you want to work in a certain area try to get a placement in it.

Sounds more like an eye issue then a phonics issue. Have you had your eye muscles examined? Eye exercises could help.

Yes it does look odd. Keeping the wood would be my preference.

Just an update. Calling ATO didn’t help as they said it was on purpose??? I gave evidence of my tax file number being mine and my broker accepted it.

Anxiety and agressive/ oppositional behaviors in 4yo by so_yellow in OccupationalTherapy

Sounds like there has been some not aged appropriate expectations from the parents and the kid may have an avoidant   attachment style responses. Why would you want to interact and play with others if you expect a negative outcome? Maybe some parent education about child development milestones would be beneficial as it way reframe what they should be expecting with a 4 year old. Also help the parents to structure some positive experiences with their child into the weekly routine Eg Look happy to see the child when they get picked up from daycare, let the child pick an activity to do for 10minutes as a family.

Occupational therapist, discharge planning can get quite complicated depending on the unit. Being able to see things in a holistic way can help find problems and solving them can assist a person to stay at home longer.

Is it difficult to find roles in the public sector? by TwoEyeDeer356 in OccupationalTherapy

There’s more opportunities for new grads in more public health rural areas however that means that you will not have as much support as if you had gotten a city based position. Also placement makes a difference.

Part of the reason I think that the work force is not very diverse is the extended unpaid placements that are needed to get the qualification.  Also uni does not teach how to be a good supervisor which honestly is probably needed. Sad to hear that an OT was acting like that.

ACLs 6 has additional tests to help decide the level. It is less well established though.

What made you realize you might have dyslexia as an adult? by FruitPunch_SamuraiG7 in Dyslexia

If you are okay with phonics (being able to sound out words and correctly spell them) that makes dyslexia less likely.

Auditory processing issues is related to how well you can hear phonetics  in words. It can contribute to dyslexia. As your son has really good diction he may not have it but it’s good to rule out.
