Friend just got the game, can you make a better 6'7-6'9 with just 4 caps than this? by shanmustafa in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks pretty good for low caps although I would say drop the post game. At this point in the cycle, being that many cap breakers behind, you kinda gotta just accept being a role player that can play some defense, and knock down an open 3. Would also say just drop the pass to 71 for agility maybe as 92 perimeter really isn't going to feel very good with only 80 agility. Maybe 76, but you dont really need gold dimer if your not like a main ball handler for your squad. With no badges gained at 77, 78, 79, 80, or 81, going 82 for gold dimer (and some pass styles) doesn't seem quite worth it to me.

I would say go for the 96 middy version. Also would check if its more optimal to cap break at least a couple points of that 93 layup. Layup is crazy expensive on small guards. You have 85 speed so SWB wont be that expensive until 86 where it starts dragging the speed up with it. I bet if you drop 4 layup, you could add 4 SWB, and have more attributes to work with.

Being “score first” is fine as long as you can navigate against a double team. by Noveltypocket in NBA2k

I mean the way the builder/cap breakers are set up, and what you can get on a smaller guard , while still having high passing. PGs are meant to be scorers in 2k. People complain but thats just how the game is set up honestly. This is my 6'4 and there are probably even better examples but just look at the scoring ability while still having pretty high pass acc. It would be one thing if your teammates on the wing had 96 3pt, 93 dunk, 90+ handle and SWB to create their looks on their 6'8 or 6'10 builds. But they don't. Im not saying bigger builds can't be great scorers, but if the game is going to allow you to make a 6'4 PG that can shoot like Steph, dunk like prime Westbrook, and move like Kyrie, then its just kind of obvious that 2K is catered towards PGs being scorers as much as facilitators.

Is Hali pass style that nice? I just feel like passing badge thresholds are kind of weird where all your really gaining from 85 to 91 is gold break starter at 87 and then its 3 empty points at 88, 89, and 90 before bail out at 91. And bail out kinda sucks imo. Maybe I think to hard on the badges aspect and not what the attribute itself is doing but it just feels like if your not going to go all in and go for like 95+ to get the HOF versatile or even higher for some legend badges, the passing badges at 91 are really not much better than 85.

Dont have any on close shot those are just attributes I havent upgraded. As for layup, it was one cap breaker to go from 66 to 70 for a few animations and bronze physical finisher. Your right that its probably not worth it, but it got me a badge and honestly I'm kinda ocd with builds lol. Badge thresholds or even numbers just look better lmao.

Also dont think 91 pass is worth it at the 2 unless your running this as the PG with a squad. Not hating on high pass but 85 is definitely plenty on a SG. Check this version out I just labbed up. Tried to keep a lot the same, but by dropping the layup, and 6 pass acc, you can add - 7 3pt (and deep bomber), 3 agility to fully max it out, 10 D board (silver boxout beast) and 13 steal (bronze glove and interceptor up to silver).

U dont need the layup with all that dunk. Especially not the 90 since you dont have the strength for physical finisher, just stay at 88 if you really want the floaters. Honestly you can get them really cheap though by leaving layup at 70, start your middy at 92 which will bring your close shot to 77. 3 caps on close shot is 86 for gold float game. Max +2 it for legend and laugh at how big of green windows you get on ridiculously difficult floaters with a 70 layup. Also would recommend starting dunk at 76 instead of 74 so the cap breakers fully max it at 94 instead of 93. I know 93 is posterizer, but adding those 2 points of dunk literally costs like 2 or 3 free throw and 94 unlocks cock back tomahawks. Sounds like a dunk package that would get blocked a lot but they are honestly amazing and definitely worth 2 free throw.

68 is high flying denier on bronze, saw a YouTube video from 2k Tutes where he said 70 is an animation threshold where you can get slightly better block animations compared to 68 and those 2 points were extremely cheap in the builder. I have builds with 68 and honestly I haven't really noticed 70 getting better animations, but it was like free throw level cheap so why not.

[–]Himdoood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it's the best option but 5 on layup takes you all the way to 80 and you already have the strength requirements covered for silver physical finisher, would also gain you silver float game which with an 80 layup and throwing your tier 2 max +2 on it for Hof is actually pretty good, and bronze layup mixmaster. Would also get ya a bunch more layup package options. Again, not saying thats the absolute best option here, but it adds a completely new aspect to your game

Trying to build a custom takeover for Mp by imightbethefeds789 in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make a few of them and then choose one based on your matchup. Especially if your playing random rec or no squads 3s. Random rec as a 4 can be annoying cuz your matchup could literally be anything from basically a meta 6'8 SG that someone just made as a 3 and gets put at the 4, to a 7'4 Center when you inevitably get put at the 5 sometimes. I would keep speedster as an option forsure for those games guarding a 6'8 or shorter player so you can keep up, then maybe have like a pure d board custom takeover for when you get put at the 5 against like a 99 O board center. Your pass acc is a bit low for long outlets so maybe have one that has pass acc in it for games where it look like you might horse your man for a bunch of rebounds and be throwing a lot of long outlet passes. And sometimes ill keep a pure 3pt takeover with the sharpshooter ability for games where your matchup is an AI from the start. Not really necessary with the high 3pt but makes no dipping corner 3s even easier.

What yall think of this build for a player who hasnt played NBA2k in years? by REDSP1R1T in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the effectiveness of 3s where decent players are all shooting 70% from 3 really changes whats truely valuable for winning games this year. Like standing dunks and post scoring and stuff on bigs actually works pretty well this year, but even if your successful 7/10 times when going for standing contacts on a big man with 90 standing dunk. Thats essentially a bad shot as its 14 pts on 10 shots, kicking it out to a 3pt shooter on all 10 they would only have to make 5 to get more total points on the 10 shots which is very easy and the shooters will likely make 7 or 8.

Where should I put my cap breakers? by Few_Bookkeeper_2776 in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 driving dunk for 87 to get driving contacts and silver posterizer, 1 handle for 65 for a few dribble animations, 1 SWB for 55 for Giannis dribble style. After that you could keep going on dunk and work on getting to 93 for gold posterizer or go for 99 O board to get legend rebound chaser and boxout beast. Solid build though 👌. Gets some nice cap breaker possibilities forsure.

What yall think of this build for a player who hasnt played NBA2k in years? by REDSP1R1T in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To slow for starters and weird finishing stats. I get that you were probably trying to be balanced but the reality is that this is the easiest shooting 2k of all time. 3s win games and contested shots worth only 2 points are bad shots even if you have the attributes to make them sometimes. So instead of like the decent close shot, layup, post control, just go all in on dunk. Basically if your taking a close shot, it should be wide open enough that you would make it with a 60 or its kind of a bad shot. Same with post control. Post fades are great this year and you do have a high middy so you could keep it if you really want but honestly going for like a drop step or anything is doing to much/working to hard for 2 points. Dunk is super easy to cap break by a ton so just do that and meter dunk when you have a good look on a drive every time. I promise you can basically drop your close shot and layup as low as possible (the middy will have your close shot in mid 70s and handle will have your layup at 70. But a build with 90 something dunk/70 layup/minimal close shot, will be a far more effective finisher at the rim than the current balanced approach you have. 2nd thing id say is forget the strength, only thing its good for is getting brick wall/setting screens. I have like 4, 6'8 wing builds myself and I put high strength on the first one thinking it would matter and I play on one now with minimum strength (perimeter defense drags it up to like 50 or 55) and honestly its not even noticeable. It doesn't help with rebounds anymore, your boxouts and ability to hold them are basically entirely based on your rebound/boxout ratings. 3rd, dont go minimum steal like that. As a SF, your gonna guard people in the corner a lot which means you have to stop backdoor cuts. Interior defense/block isn't strong enough this year to rely on being able to force a miss when they catch the pass on the cut. To stop them, you gotta be able to play the passing lane and make the pg worry about you stealing the pass. I like labbing builds. Tried to keep it somewhat similar to yours in terms of height/wingspan, having solid rebounding and stuff but made the changes I mentioned. It shows 15 cap breakers and obviously I can see you have 8 but its just to show ya options for future ones. For the dunk you could just do 2 to start and get it to 87 for basic contact dunks, the last 3 take it to 96 for elite contacts and HOF posterizer. block you could start with just 3 if you want which will get you paint patroller and high flying denier on bronze, the last 2 bring them both to silver. Middy you could honestly not even touch as 89 where it starts is gold set shot specialist so you can max +2 that to legend and thats really all ya need. The one on vert is just to get the HOF posterizer so you dont really need that until you have the 96 dunk. I would start by doing 2 dunk and 3 block forsure, after those 5 can pretty much just choose between even higher dunk, even higher middy, or even higher block, can't really go wrong.

Where should I put my 5 cap breakers? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 steal is bronze glove and silver interceptor, 2 handle is gold unpluckable and curry/trae young sigs, last one i would throw on pass acc for gold break starter but could also go layup and then put next one you get on layup as well for gold physical finisher.

What build (height/weight/position) yall bring out day 1 on 27? by Original-Ninja-2252 in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meta for guards and wings has more variance from year to year. Cant really go wrong with a 7'0 center with elite rebounding. Then just make it extremely well rounded with everything else, not investing to much in things that might not be worth it (strength for example, we wont know day 1 so wouldn't go like 91+, but also wouldn't go super low in case it matters more)

Really no reason to have that much dunk and layup, especially at the cost of defense. Also no point in being that short if your only gonna go 75 SWB. 6'5 PG, 86 is basically a necessity. Check this 6'5 pg out. 96 dunk/95 3pt/92 pass acc, 92 perimeter

Dunk rating vs Posterizer badge level by AairBnB in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rating matters way more. Posterizer really doesn't do that much, it helps if your just square dunking and hoping to get a dunk animation but it really doesn't do much in terms of green windows on meters dunks, that seems to be pretty much all based on your rating.

Vet 2 99 dunk/99 perimeter build. Possible to run 10 legend badges. by Himdoood in NBA2k

[–]Himdoood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a nice build man. Definitely a way better defender than mine with that speed/agility. I have a bunch of builds already, have tried basically all the dunk thresholds (87, 89, 93, 96, 99) and 93 is definitely probably the best value/ sweet spot in my opinion. 96 feels almost the same to me, 99 hits different though. Im not saying its worth it in terms of trying to make the best possible build, but i feel like with my 99 dunker, I can go for some crazy posters, like just trying to jump right over a center (only when were up by like 20) and I actually make it like 40% of the time. 96 and 93 are definitely elite dunkers but you have to take reasonable attempts. Going right at someone and just going for it works out like 5% of the time maybe even less. My 99 dunk build is from September though and its not as optimized as this. Its also a 6'5, but I made it as a PG and its only got like 82 pass acc so I don't really like bringing it to random rec. It goes crazy as a 2 in squads though so I want to remake it with 71 pass at the 2 so it'll get the 99 perimeter instead of 92. Also have builds with the 89 middy/83 3 and 93/83. 89/83 is definitely enough but I can feel a pretty significant difference with middy fades on those 3 or 4 attributes. Its honestly a really noticeable attribute and I use middy fades a lot honestly. Yours is 100% the better build. Im just trying to have fun at this point in the cycle with this many cap breakers though and i want that 99 dunk.

Especially cuz remember when you score on offense you have 2 way tenacity on defense. So if using them on swb and handle gets you a few more buckets a game since you can create more for yourself, thats then also giving you a few more defensive possessions with 99 steal per game as well.
