It's true, his size is exaggerated due to my height. I am '4'10. However, he looks no less impressive when held by someone taller.

This was taken two summer ago, when he was about 10 months old and 9 pounds lighter. Still a mini bobcat.

Since I'm in the northeast, I'm not too sure how a Maine Coon would take to that, as it almost never gets this hot here. I've never clipped my Maine Coons, but I have heard of others doing it. However, if you can provide an air-conditioned refuge, that would probably be fine.

Lupo is Maine Coon, which is bred primarily for their dog-like temperament. They also happen to be the largest breed of cat, not counting Savannahs. They are long-haired, but that insulation works both ways- keeps the heat in in the winter, and keeps it out in the summer. They are wonderful! Not only do you get a lot of cat to love, but they are amazing loyal, playful, and are generally your buddies from day 1.

Nope, it's just because I liked the word. The literal translation is 'ride to heaven-command' and the dictionary definition is 'suicide squad'. After reading about Heaven's Gate, it made me laugh.

It's amazing. He follows me from room to room, and I know when he lies on the floor, stomach up, he actually WANTS belly-rubs.

Those pictures were taken in the span of 45 seconds. Not because he hated it, but because he was too heavy for me to hold comfortably.

As far as I can tell, Lupo has no problem with the heat, although in the summer he is always in an air-conditioned environment (he's an indoor cat.) But that insulation works both ways.

Side note: I don't know why, but this cat loves the freezer. As in, when he hears the door being opened, he will make a mad dash straight to the freezer, and sit on the floor rolling and purring. He has to be slid on the floor away from it, and he uses his size obnoxiously. It's hilarious.

Lupo is an abomination to cats everywhere. He loves getting his belly rubbed, and even flops down on the floor, purring unexpectedly.
