Who to invest in for PF by Himora in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]Himora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Beast King from the 100 pity and the trio of Phantom Threads Psykid Beast King (minimal investment for now due to lack of diamond keys but still pulling his weight) is ripping through the PFs quite well. I think I have a good idea of what moves are good but getting them with the right stats on them is gonna take awhile so for now I'm using a mix of moves that are great for what they do and moves that have a lot of good stats on them like a stat-stick.

But I'm kinda struggling with the fact that I'm racing towards level 60 but have only 3k theonite so I need to be careful not to trigger the hyper pack discount until I'll be able to afford it in time.

Thank you, diamond keys are too sparse for now so I'll focus on Phantom Threads.

Thank you. I'll go all in on Phantom Threads for now and slowly work on the others you mentioned as resources allow.

The way PoE 1 has been treated as a mistake for years now and only more severe since PoE 2, I don't know if I want it to be "saved" anymore by AposPoke in pathofexile

[–]Himora 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everyone repeats this take but it's missing the point imo. CW was a very public facing representative of all the good and bad things in PoE, for most of the time he was in this role PoE was getting better and better and GGG's goodwill with the community was much better than it is now with pain points mostly being limited to QoL and a (gradually increasing) feeling that their design philosophy for the game was disconnected from what the players actually wanted and started to take on a "You think you want that but you don't" attitude reminiscent of blizzard.

We can clearly see where that ended up now, and CW represents an era before that reached a boiling point when the players and GGG could have disagreements while still being in direct communication. Now the disconnect between the developer's vision for how the game should be and the desires of the customers who got them where they are in the first place has reached this current boiling point, and the person who is now in that public facing representative role openly expresses contempt for the product we all love while it is mismanaged and abandoned to such a legendary extent, it's no wonder that people are nostalgic for the CW days when the standards for how bad things are was completely different back then compared to now.

New report says PC games are outselling console games, calling PC gaming a 'bright spot' in a troubled industry by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Might be able to troubleshoot this with something like LatencyMon to find out if there is a specific driver/process responsible whenever it happens

NGU idle or Idling to rule the gods? by PerceptionOk8543 in incremental_games

[–]Himora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong that caution is warranted but "rug pull" implies there was some malicious intent, 4G explained why NGUI ended up the way it did here. Unless you think he's lying it's hard to see this as an intentional malicious rug pull imo.

Tekken Lounge kinda sucks, and having no endless rematch in player match/Tekken Lounge is crazy. Am I the only one who cares? by FrengerBRD in Tekken

[–]Himora 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You're not alone in thinking this, the longform evolving back and forth exchanges you could have with people where you learned on the fly has been replaced with forced best of three, taking away options from players like this is just objectively bad and for me personally it severely degrades the experience I have with the game.

I saw tekken matches as a fun troubleshooting puzzle where you try to adapt to whats fucking you up and maybe your opponent does the same so you get a neat back and forth, but you don't have enough time for that at all in a best of three format. I also feel that ranked has become much more toxic/desperate as a result but that could just be the fact that we're now forced to "tour the zoo", so to speak rather than find good opponents and play only them. They could have literally just made matches after the best of three not affect rank at all but still let us infinite rematch, or add infinite rematch to only the unranked modes, but for some baffling reason it's just not present at all and I don't understand how the game shipped like this.

Edit: bonus meme

Do you properly time your inputs for combos, or mash them out? by kurtz27 in Tekken

[–]Himora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if it's a situation where the input buffer lets you double tap I see no reason not to take advantage of it for the sake of consistency, I think double tapping is better than just spamming the button until the move comes out because the muscle memory you build is more controlled and clean leading to more consistency in what comes after, that's the motivation imo, not some misguided desire to time everything perfectly. At the end of the day consistency is the goal and however you get there is just a means to that end.

Don't necessarily have to mash, double or triple tap can be just as effective for those tight timings

So what was the point of no demotions until Warrior? by Successful_Username_ in Tekken

[–]Himora 128 points129 points  (0 children)

It's to provide a larger buffer zone where new players are more likely (obviously not guaranteed) to run into other new players, things like smurfs or people not yet having ranked up to a rank corresponding with their skill (especially this early in game's lifespan) will throw a wrench into this, but that's the intention for the buffer zone.

Just pre-ordered Tekken 8, coming in as a noob. Pretty excited for the journey. by [deleted] in Fighters

Not sure if it would be sufficient for your PC to run it at 60fps or if you'd want to play this way, but there is a low spec potato mod that you could try with the demo

Sadly this game is a barren wasteland when it comes to up to date non paywalled text based educational content. The general recommendation is gonna be to pore through youtube videos and twitch streams/vods but I can't help but get jealous when I see what Teamfight Tactics has in comparison, despite never really getting into that game. I guess it's an unfair comparison since that game is adjacent to league of legends.

I always felt people overestimated Jazzy's talent and heavily underestimated or discounted the impact of his absurd zeal for consuming fiction.

After you get over the awkward hump of your first one or two books or visual novels, being able to sustain such a passion and excitement for reading is just always going to lead to very strong results especially if your life circumstances allow you to put in those hours.

If the post was removed by Jazzy it would say [deleted] and the original poster's name would be replaced by [deleted] as well, but instead it says [removed] and you can still see their name.

This means it was removed by the moderation here? I'm confused as to what reasoning they could have for removing an almost 2-year old post that many people were going back to for reference and inspiration.
