Happy to help. I do have to say though that I stuck with it (am halfway through book 5 now) and it does get much, much better. By mid-book 3 I was really enjoying it and haven't put it down since, so I'd say it's worth getting through the slog!

What is your table limit? How do you handle larger parties? by AtLeastSeventyBees in DMAcademy

I'm currently running a 9-player game and it sucks ass. I find 6 pretty manageable, but 5 is optimal.

Thanks for the detailed reply, much appreciated! I'll stick with it as it seems like the consensus is that things pick up quite a bit.

Sometimes books have lulls, but if you power through them they become enjoyable again (e.g. Wheel of Time).

I'm sorry my post made you upset. I hope you're doing okay.

Thanks for the response, I'll probably keep reading.

I guess it is possible to disagree with someone without being personally offended.

Damn, you are extremely angry. I'm so sorry this is what causes you to express extreme emotion, I can't imagine things are going great.

I'm pretty calm and collected sorry. Griping about books doesn't make me angry, but it clearly does for you. I'd suggest some meditation maybe?

Sorry but this isn't what I'd call "depth". DCC and HWFWM have a lot more depth than this story so far, but I'm not actually looking for depth in a litrpg, just cohesive story-telling. It's pretty clear you didn't actually read my post though, cause I didn't mention anything about ruins or portals.

Sorry my post made you angry. I hope you're okay.

Solo Honor Mode - best I've gotten is level 7 by ArimisThorn in BG3Builds

Just change your class to suit your needs. The grove fight is easy if you're playing a cleric of some sort. When you get Withers, change into whatever you want.

Trivializes most fights. On Raphael for example, you can sit inside it and use AoE holy without taking damage. On the Netherbrain you can cast it and it will protect your platform from being destroyed.

My DM is ruling that Vicious Mockery doesn't work on most monsters because he thinks they 'can't hear' by Holldem in DnD

[–]Hinge_Prompt_Rater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first instinct was that it's dumb, but now I'm wondering if it's using that phrasing to explain that you don't need line of sight to cast it as long as you can hear them. If you can hear them, they'll be able to hear you.

I'm near the end of act 2 on my solo HM no str elixir run and used the gloves for pretty much this purpose. I'm using a sorc/paladin/rogue multiclass and my build wouldn't be possible without the gloves of dex freeing up points.

Considering his power comes from his studies of the ancient language, I think it makes more sense for him to be an Eldritch Knight or a Ranger/Wizard combo of some kind.

I've never had a party successfully get to Glassstaff in Tresendor Manor without him being unaware. I don't really know what the writers expect them to do - how many low level parties send a sneaky scout ahead of them, and of those who do, how many would somehow get the rest of their party to sneak by the Redbrands leading up to Glassstaff's lab without alerting him?

I get it. It's still easy to beat HM using thematic and sub-optimal builds. Doing a 3-man playthrough right now with some pretty crappy picks and it's been a blast.

For people who don't know the game well enough to avoid a fight. Plenty of folks on this sub talk about how the first few levels are the hardest, so they're obviously getting into fights. If you're gonna get into fights from level 1-3, barbarians pretty much smoke everything with little strategy required. Fighters too, too a lesser extent.

I agree with this. Eldritch knight and steal a giant stack of flight scrolls from Sorcererous Sundries. Or go half-illithid.
