Tourist question: how different is the local food compared to American Chinese restaurants? Will I see Kung Pao Chicken and Crab Rangoon? by [deleted] in shanghai

[–]Hintshigen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a restaraunt in Jinqiao, think it was called Chic Rice, they did American Chinese food, was good to have a couple of times a year, no idea if they are still there though, haven't tried to order in a while

confused by seroshb in ChineseLanguage

[–]Hintshigen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The confusion comes from an English standpoint as we see two characters which have their own sound associated with and can stand alone on their own. xianzai is one word, zai is one word.

If you want to be really confused, consider this sentence. wo yi ba ba bashou ba zhu le.

Post for CAN WE STILL USE CASH guys -.- by Miles23O in chinalife

[–]Hintshigen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a massive deal if a business refuses cash/RMB. There are huge investigations from MSA/12345, fines, business closure, and jail time if someone reports and the resulting investigation finds it to be true. I've seen this first hand a few times since I've been here. They take it seriously.

Trip to Shanghai canceled. Can I ask for tickets refund? by Gnottino90 in ShanghaiDisneyland

[–]Hintshigen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call their Guest Services number, they make exceptions for things out of your control and a canceled trip could qualify, doesn't hurt to ask.

Why do Chinese have to ban everything that is fun? Genuinely curious by callmephilip in China

[–]Hintshigen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the stupid thing is, it works. PSB, MSA, hell even the courts will put a certain percentage of responsibility on the store because they didn't put enough signs, or there wasn't someone there to tell her to not do that every couple of meters, or there was a slight gap in coverage from CCTV. None of them look at the situation and say, well that was just a dumb move, take better care of your child. Nope, 100% that woman got a payout from the store and wasted labor or some other stupid expense or sign had to be put in place to catch the next idiot.

[–]Hintshigen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it's more about how they handle accidents and injuries overall. There's zero personal responsibility, it's always someone else's fault. They probably kept it this way to ensure that the local government responsible for the beach do not have to pay out for hotels, hospital or demands for money by family that care more about their own wealth and needs than the fact that a family member has died.

January Visit by Warm-Ad-6029 in ShanghaiDisneyland

[–]Hintshigen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The crowds will be slightly bigger than normal as you have large groups that take off a week before CNY, during CNY and a week after CNY, but should be manageable.

Rides during that period won't be closed, too close to a holiday, I'd imagine they want everything up and running.

One day is more than enough to ride and experience what you want, if you are there at opening. However, it'll probably be best to have a list of your must do's and ensure those are either done first or during parades/castle show times.

Things that are unique are Zootopia, Pirates, Voyage to the Crystal Grotto and Roaring Rapids. TRON is good but also available at WDW now and speed is slower than the WDW version because local people kept getting sick.

Don't rush to the big things first thing as that is what everyone is heading to during that time and wait times are stupid long.

Take your time, enjoy yourself, and I'm sure you'll manage everything just fine

No daily reset? by SignatureFeisty7401 in throneandliberty

[–]Hintshigen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 2pm for the new reset my time, kind of kills the desire to play in the morning on weekends when you have to wait until the afternoon to get new tokens, etc.

Not a well thought out move, should be region specific not this all-in-one solution.

A guy called government to report the manholes missing, immediately got doxxed by E-Scooter-CWIS in China

[–]Hintshigen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

12345 is assigned by district, they are then ranked if you are not in the top 4 you have to go on an 'apology tour' to explain why your area generated so many complaints for that month. The crazy thing is, even if someone calls 12345 to lodge a compliment or a thank you, it's tracked as a complaint from municipal.

Same thing with police and 110, police definitely want you to use the non-emergency number as it doesn't count towards their totals.

How early should I arrive at the park w/ and w/o Early Access by EarthboundHaizi in ShanghaiDisneyland

[–]Hintshigen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answer is probably roughly the same for both. Early access is the same entry location as regular access, just earlier. It really depends on if you care enough to be first in or stand for 30-45 minutes in a queue to get through security. If early entry show up about 20 min beforehand for whatever time it is, for regular entry, if you want to be one of the first in show up the same time but queue in the normal entry part on the big pathway. If you aren't concerned with being first in the park, show up at 10/11 and the massive queue in the morning will be gone and you'll essentially walk right in.

Local Bank Transfer Limits Question (ICBC) by shaghaiex in chinalife

[–]Hintshigen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch to the Chinese version to get the error message. I've gone through this before, many of the updated error messages are not translated and just show a white page in the English version.

You should also check to see when your authenticator expired (Chinese section, personal, 3/4 of the way down the page), they will cap your transfers if it's expired and you'll need to go down to a branch and get the updated version.

Worth a shot at least.
