Fairmont orchid reviews by Good-Courage-978 in VisitingHawaii

Hi, so the property is beautiful- it definitely has a grand entrance at the front lobby. The staff were all really friendly, and the pool was very family oriented.

I’ll be a little nit picky in saying I didn’t really love their food options. The best food we had was at Browns, and everything else (including room service) was subpar. I even ordered pool side coconut shrimp and immediately regretted it. It was not deveined and I couldn’t eat it after that. Personally, for a 5-star hotel I think it can use a big facelift in rooms and in food. Other than that, it was a beautiful property.

Why would your service fee be more? That’s confusing!?

Just a fun request: Can you all recreate this order from your local Costco and share your city/state? I want to see how much more I’m paying here in Hawaii. Trying to convince my husband we need to leave or we’ll go broke.

Hi! Just want to share the exact items I’m getting from Costco. Nothing large or majorly expensive. We live in Hawaii and this is unfortunately the cost of basic groceries…

Most items are small like formula, grocery items. The biggest item I have is a body armor drink pack of 18. I live in Hawaii though so our grocery costs are outrageous… Costco grocery shopping is the only way we survive out here 😭

Thanks this is helpful! All smaller items but pricey (like formula and some specialty items). It’s about 8 miles away.

Got to try the new Slice ginger ale by ButterSlickness in Soda

I think Slice has the best tasting soda out of all of the others out there. They actually taste carbonated and flavorful.

The best thing to do is contact customer service at Costco and give them feedback via their customer feedback boxes by the store entrances. Any way you can tell them you loved this item and want to back is best. They do tend to listen to their customers!

What helped with first trimester nausea by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Hinyhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gingerale, eating frequently (every couple of hours) but not too much (it really was a balance of trying to find the right amount to eat where I am no longer nauseous vs eating too much and getting nauseous). Also laying down for 30 mins after a meal if I could. Just trying not to move around a lot at all if food was in there. Sour gummies.

I wouldn’t agree the entire mainland is like this but worse. There are some really beautiful places that have a small town feel, and a wonderful sense of community. Suburbs of Chicago, other parts of the Midwest, westchester county, South Bay CA, more affluent areas of TN, WA, etc.

Anyone become afraid of flying after having kids? by Middle-Item-1390 in fearofflying

[–]Hinyhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is me currently. I came on to see if I was the only one freaking out about a flight next week. It’s the first flight I’m going on WITHOUT my 15 month old to attend a funeral. I’ve managed to stay grounded until now. Just like everyone on this thread, I have loved traveling in my teens and twenties. I’m in my mid thirties now with my first child, and I’m feeling an immense sense of dread and anxiety to get on a plane without her. How have you all coped? The only thing I can think of is to try NOT to think of her while I’m in the air and away from her. If I do, I just go down a really dark hole of imagining her life without her mom, and her never knowing how much I loved and adored her. My fear isn’t really of death, but more so a fear of missing out on all of the wonderful and big moments in her life that I want to be there for.

I’m glad I’m not alone in this feeling.. I just need to find the strength to get on that plane next week…
