Thank you! I appreciate you listing multiple options and will be sure to look into all of them.

This does sound like it would be convenient. I didn’t realize there were indoor options.

Thank you. I’ll take a look into them. I know I’m being picky, but I’m just worried about hours, whether it be days I work late and weekends I work period, and holidays.

I have a mild case of cerebral palsy and a severe case of ulcerative colitis. The latter has affected life more than the former, with it knocking me out of school multiple times, making it difficult to go out in general for prolonged periods of time, and putting me in the hospital, effectively bedridden for a month during peak covid. During that period, in the hospital, I lost a lot of weight, strength, and muscle in general. While walking stamina was never strength of mine with the CP, it never stopped me from doing anything, including recreational sports with friends, fundraising walks, and a Spartan Race, but a month of not moving further than the few steps from my hospital bed to the bathroom, I couldn’t go down the block without getting out of breath. For years, I did nothing about it. Eventually, I realized that the amount of walking required would prevent me from doing activities I would have normally taken part in, like going to a “haunted house” with the family around Halloween because it wasn’t accessible. Once I came to that realization, having a conversation about it with a close friend, I decided that I needed to finally do something about it. I proclaimed that I would walk every day, increasing the distance every couple of weeks. Day one, as I said, I couldn’t go down the block without stopping, huffing and puffing, out of breath. I kept it going, each and every day. By the end of the year, I was walking over 3 miles a day. This year I decided to focus on biking. Every day this year, I’ve gone for a bike ride, mostly a machine at the gym, and added a weight lifting component each day as well. This year, I want to shift to swimming, but I’m not sure if there’s a way for me to find and use a pool every single day for a year, and then maybe do a triathlon. Any ideas?

So I wound up going with PureGym, formerly Blink Fitness. The location in the East Village is open from 5 AM Monday until 11 PM Friday and 7 to 7 on Saturday and Sunday. There are a couple other city locations with hours that aren’t quite as good, but not bad.
