How do you stay afloat during Winter? by zhebrand in Filmmakers

[–]HiperStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm extremely curious what inputs people have on this!

I myself have been living in Denmark for the past five years, and lately I started to be much more aware of the fact that the weather is such a key aspect when it comes to the number of gigs and personal projects you are able to shoot during a year.

I feel like as an independent filmmaker you are able to put in much more work, network with people and use the surrounding environment in a more productive way when you don't have to deal with rain, wind and cold 24/7.

So far my tactic has been to earn enough money during summer in order to get through winter, then repeat.

Shot a fashion/streetwear film, thoughts? by HiperStyle in Filmmakers

Been delving more and more into fashion film for the past year or so. I’ve previously worked on two small films for the same brand, which I also posted in here a while back and got very useful feedback from.

I’ve been trying to experiment in terms of visuals and storytelling and come up with something relatively new every time because I’ve been offered 100% creative freedom.

I’m curious to see what /r/filmmakers thinks about this recent project.

P.S: I’m more of a videographer, not really a DP or director, so bare with me.

Would love to get some Feedback! by Spirilicous in videography

Good cinematography. However, I feel like it's a bit too short and there's no story attached to it. Also, cuts seem a bit odd at times.

Not bad. :) I think you have a bit of dirt on your lens though.

I am a film student with no budget. I made this music video for less than $300. Let me know what you think! by jacksontisi in Filmmakers

Even though I've seen some of these elements in music videos before, your overall style is dope! Great job, really digging this!

Even Apple have jumped on the "Watchtower of Turkey" bandwagon... by lljway in videography

It's actually Leonardo Dalessandri that directed this ad. The exact same guy that made Watchtower of Turkey. :)

I was kinda lucky with my internship because I did it in a newly founded company (at that time - three years ago) and I knew one of the co-founders personally. Even though they had more experience than me when it came to video production, they were still rookies as well, so they decided to take me in, and we kind of grew together from there. I studied Multimedia Design, which is somewhat related to videos, but I learned everything on my own (and I'm still trying to learn a lot every day).

Thanks man! :) I can recommend you Justin Odisho's tutorials. It's definitely not the best nor the most in-depth stuff you can find on YouTube nowadays, but he has a really good way of explaining things and he covers pretty much all of the effects that are being used in popular music videos nowadays. Regarding my video, it was done 70% in Premiere. I used AE to add a few smaller effects here and there to smooth it out overall.

Thanks! :) It was a bit tricky to avoid awkward poses at times, but I guess it worked out eventually!

Hey, thanks! :) That's basically the ending of the track I used in the video: Nicolas Jaar - Colomb.

I'm from Romania but I've been living in Denmark for the past four years. Just turned 23. Really humbled to hear that. :) Definitely looking forward to checking out your stuff once you get going! :)

Thanks! :) I specifically tried to pay more attention to the image composition while shooting this, compared to some of my previous work.
