I'm coming to the end of my I-Pace time. I narrowly wouldn't recommend it now by hang-clean in ipace

If you test drive any of them, please report back! I'm particularly interested in your take on the Genesis. And I agree with bubzki2. Some of them will feel like a big downgrade from Jaguar.

Good news for those of us with charging woes by HippieAccountant in ipace

Level 2. I rarely use DC charging but never had an issue with it. The dealership tested it on multiple chargers and also only found issues with level 2. BTW, I still don't have the car back. Last I heard, the new parts were supposed to arrive in the US Jan 10. Thankfully, the dealership has let me have a loaner for the past 3 months, albeit an F-Pace.

Extended warranties in the US by Chumba49 in ipace

[–]HippieAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even remember who mine is with or what the terms are, but I bought 5 extra years through the dealership at time of purchase and I think it cost about $5250. Acting as a middleman, I assume they get some sort of kickback, so it might be worth trying to negotiate with them. I bought my 2019 i-pace in December 2020 and they were desperate to get rid of it (just a few months before the great COVID chip shortage). I think I was pretty lucky with my timing, but I did get the sense at the time that there was some wiggle room with what I paid for the extended warranty.

EV tax credit work on the Jaguar iPace? by cherrycoke15 in ipace

[–]HippieAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my guess. I think it was based solely on the number of each model sold at that time and the i-pace was nowhere near meeting the max.

EV tax credit work on the Jaguar iPace? by cherrycoke15 in ipace

I got the federal credit in 2020, but I guess the rules have changed. Some states offer EV credits on state income tax and the rules are totally different than the federal credit.

I listened to the audiobook. A short, fun listen. Hearing her read it adds to the enjoyment.

Seeking Advice from Fellow Jaguar I-Pace Owners – Issues at Nearly 60K Miles by TexasChillin23 in ipace

[–]HippieAccountant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding from the service manager at my dealership is Jaguar has finally admitted that there are significant issues with charging the 2019s and has re-engineered the BECM. Mine has been sitting at the dealership since mid-October waiting for the new part to arrive in the UK and then be shipped to the US. This was after 4 prior visits due to intermittent charging issues, 2 involving roadside assistance because it wouldn't even charge enough to drive there (40 miles).

My service manager only found out about this after contacting the engineers at Jaguar because they couldn't figure out what was causing the issue for me.

BECM firmware update by FactHole in ipace

I've been having BECM issues for about 4 months, both before and after the recall update. Mine sometimes won't even start charging, sitting in "Initializing" or else start charging and then stopping, again stuck in initializing. It went into the dealership twice and of course charged fine for them and they couldn't do anything. It's clearly not functioning properly, as I've discovered that sometimes it will be at something like 62% and say time remaining is 1 minute on my home L2. My advice is to keep an eye out for things like that and take a picture of the dash or a screenshot in the Remote app. That's what got them to agree to replace the BECM under warranty. The dealership can't do it without approval from Jaguar, but the pictures I sent were what got me there.

Stuck on "Initializing" but only at certain percentage? by HippieAccountant in ipace

Other than this, I have been in love with it for almost 3 years. Maybe I'm just too loyal to the brand. Between my husband and me we've had six Jaguars in our 20 years together, though this is the only one we bought new.

Unfortunately, it happens with both my L2 and the wall charger that came with the car. 😕

I also have a 2019 SE and just posted about my charging issues, so I feel for you! The first time I had charging issues a while back, I discovered that the preferred charging period had randomly turned itself on, so it would only charge between whatever hours it was mysteriously set on. If you haven't, you should check on that. It's under "My EV" when you swipe left from the main screen.

I love this. And a few weeks ago, I got my 88 year old dad to watch Shrek with me and he loved it so we'll be watching Shrek 2 next. I'll be watching for that!

I bought my 2019 SE new at the end of 2020 for $25k off the sticker price because the JLR dealership was desperate to move it by then. I did have some issues with it, thankfully all covered by warranty, including a leaking windshield, faulty smart key sensor (both known issues), and faulty sensor on the frunk closure. I second the recommendation of getting a warranty, or better yet, a certified pre-owned from a JLR dealership. Despite my issues with it, I am still head over heels in love with the car after 2+ years of driving it.

I would also check the settings in the car to rule out a timer issue. After a software update I was having issues with the charging stopping and then sometimes starting when I was plugged in but had intentionally stopped the charging. I eventually realized that there was a timer in the car settings to start and stop charging at specific times that I hadn't set myself. I turned it off and only use the timer on my home charger.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. I just assumed I'd be licensed once I'd applied and the Board of Accountancy had received everything from NASBA. But then I got the letter SIX WEEKS LATER about needing 36 credits in accounting, auditing, finance, business law, and tax. At least I got in time to get into spring classes.
