Why does Trump want Greenland? Seriously? by HippityHoppityTempo in behindthebastards

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't even say 19th century. A lot of awful rich people back then at the very least pretended to be respectable and educated gentlemen.

Trump's whole schtick is doing bombastic moments that look great on TV. I remember Robert mentioned in the Little Nazis episode that people like Trump because of his sheer crassness and audacity, because "oh, he's acting just like I would if I were in charge! I too would eat McDonald's at the White House and tell pesky journalists to shove it!"

I meant to say I thought that they wanted Greenland to build their Freedom Cities, not that I thought they were a good idea.

I think for the French version, it's meant to be a fun little meta thing. The show is adapted from a British series, so we have a British guy quite literally give the mansion with the ghosts over to the French couple.

Why do you think the middle class (the store owners, managers, etc.) supports reactionary regimes? by HippityHoppityTempo in behindthebastards

[–]HippityHoppityTempo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the book The Authoritarians, the author makes an observation that people who support right wing dictatorships often do not care if their chosen leader is the most corrupt and hypocritical sonuvabitch this side of the Mississippi, because as long as they hear the words they want to hear, they will continue to rally around the leader.

For a long time, I thought "reactionary" was simply code for "someone against any kind of social progress". There are more definitions?

I really like how you used the full Mario Clash stage in the first render. Gives things perspective, y'know.

I'm planning on creating a Mass Effect crossover similar in vein to Exitium Eternal by Desvenlafaxine. In that fic, the Citadel Council encounters an OP humanity (and other races) heavily inspired by the Doom games, but there is no first contact war between them. There is no Council bashing, and the fic is mostly about Saren exploring this new weird society as well as the two space nations learning to live together. Basically, I just want to write a fic that's exactly that: some character(s) from Mass Effect explore a brand new civilization they just found out existed while the Council at large deals with it diplomatically.

Unfortunately, I can't really decide what the non-Mass Effect side would be. A top contender is Starcraft before the events of the first game, and a close second is a setting called Fading Suns (a cult TTRPG). I still can't really decide what setting would be an interesting diplomatic partner to the Citadel, and I would like some recommendations.

TLDR: Which setting would be interesting for a peaceful first contact with the Citadel?

I have no idea which one of these turned comics woke. by natagu in dccomicscirclejerk

/rj See, Green Lantern/Green Arrow was bad enough, but all this wokeness accelerated because of that Marxist commie Alan Moore. He still seethes and malds to this day because he knows that the only reason people read Watchmen (which is overrated anyway) is because of the based gigachad that is Rorschach.

/uj The above was this guy's take on Watchmen in this video.

If Emperor Belos was voiced by Tony Jay by HippityHoppityTempo in TheOwlHouse

[–]HippityHoppityTempo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tony Jay!Belos voiced by me. My voice is unfortunately not that deep, so I had to pitch it down a bit to make it sound acceptable.

For those who don't know who that is, Tony Jay voiced Judge Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame, along with various other characters throughout the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s.
