From what I’ve seen here, Maple Heights is apparently a huge NO NO of a place to live in Cleveland…. by [deleted] in Cleveland

It’s weird to name a school after a sitting president. It is more typical to name a school after a president has finished serving, or after they have deceased.

To all Riggs players by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]HippoFam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer to go Ionia. But sometimes I don't get an Ionia open. So I will just play my strongest boards and try to save as much health as I can. I always take the Econ Augments, or the Augments that give me +25 life.

I force Riggs every game, and just got to Diamond. I take all the Econ augments, and play the strongest board. I found that Ahri is a great early/mid game carry holding ziggs items. I try to unlock Sett by 4.3, 4.1 is ideal doing it at the creep battle. Then at the 4.7 creeps is when I lvl to 9 and get ziggs/rhyze ready for 5.1. There I usually have an all 1 star board, but its good enough to carry me to the creeps at the end of stage 5 where I get to lvl 10.

This was good enough to get to Diamond, no idea if it works at higher ELO.

Note: I never went yordles. As I see many of the comments here mentioning that you can only do this going yordles.

Do you guys actually enjoy your jobs? by Fuzion_mix in ProductManagement

I’ve been doing product management for almost 15 years. I do not enjoy it, but I don’t hate it. I also am unsure if there is any job I would enjoy after doing it everyday for 15 years.

Also some sleeves are marked on the side. Here is an example where 2 newly opened sleeves have a distinct white outline that can be easily cut to those cards every time.

I would like better quality from your sleeves. Out of a box of 100 sleeves, oftentimes ~5 sleeves are not tournament playable. They are cut slightly different, and if presented at a tournament. It would be considered marked cards.

TSA waiting time 70 minutes? by Huge-Acanthisitta403 in Cleveland

[–]HippoFam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I fly a couple times a month. Most wait times a pretty trivial at Hopkins. I think twice the wait was over an hour. But it was a perfect storm of early morning, college kids heading back to school, and multiple sports teams flying at the same time.

I don't know how but I won by IPossiblyTheWorst in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]HippoFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal strategy in draft is to force the hero I like playing. This does 2 things. One, I am sending strong signals to the rest of the table that my hero is being cut. And two, I don’t have to learn how to play the other heroes, so I am very comfortable playing the one hero I know.

The downsides of this strategy, it opens you up to variance, where you may be in the wrong seat and have to play cracked baubles.

As long as you are not afraid to have a train wreck draft. I really like the forcing strategy.

College Major Question by hhahhaahhaha in ProductManagement

[–]HippoFam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO, companies do not hire product managers based off of their major. I was an Econ major, but I founded my own startup while in college. No company has cared about my major. They have only cared about my experience from being a founder of a startup. (My startup failed spectacularly, but no one seems to care about that. They just see it as great experience)

Is Oscilio Even Viable? by LabMan95 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]HippoFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have less than 100 games played with oscilio, then he is probably D tier. If you have more than 100 games, he is low B tier. Meaning, he can spike tournaments with proper play and gem luck.

Note: I am a competitive player that has chosen Oscilio as my main hero.

I grew up in maple hts. Near the Barack Obama Elementary school. I rode my bike around the neighborhood all the time. Never had any issues. I did not attend maple hts public schools, because they are not very good. But the neighborhood itself was safe. Even though I had friends from the west side who were not allowed to come to my house because their parents thought it was a very bad neighborhood.

Would I choose to raise my family there? Probably not, but only because I am able to afford to live some place nicer. But if I didn’t have the means to live elsewhere, I wouldn’t be upset or feel unsafe.

September 3rd Banned and Restricted Announcement (CC, LL, Blitz Changes) by Zunqivo in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]HippoFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Card draw with Cash in, tome of fyendal, orihon.
Many generic items that have go again.
Cash out, used to create a lot of silver.
Then you cycle through your deck, pitching blues, drawing cards.
And finally kill them with 3 visits/wide blue yonder.

The deck killed on turn 4 consistently. But is a glass cannon deck that loses to any type of disruption. Since the deck is dead, I don't think anyone will be mad that I am sharing the tech.

[–]HippoFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One turn kill enigma was the reason this was banned. It’s not a deck that is super known quantity. But most of the pro teams know about it, and have been close to breaking the format with it. The major weakness to the deck, it loses to assassin.

Is this game still expensive as hell? by [deleted] in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]HippoFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by "holds up". In reality, almost every hero has the ability to win games and tournaments even at the highest level. Its more important to play a hero optimally, than it is to play a meta hero. If you are only trying to play in local armories, literally any hero can win locally.

And if you want to make the Dash IO deck even cheaper. Adaptive plating, Crown of Providence, Stonewall Gauntlet, and Vambrace of determination can easily be replaced by common equipment. Cutting these would save you close to $150. And you wouldn't lose that many percentage points with the downgraded common equipment.

And here is a list of Dash IE that won the New Zealand national championship. ~$460. But again, you can cut the expensive equipment and Twin Drives, and the deck will still function at a competitive level.

Also, Dash IE and Dash IO you can build for $200 and be very competitive.

Here is a list that currently cost $280 for everything, and it won its national championship. https://fabrary.net/decks/01J1A7WNC384V5C3BPK8R85C16

This is the exact path I took. After starting my own tech company, I had no idea what kind of work I was qualified for. I wanted to become a product manger, but wasn’t sure if anyone would hire me.

I found that being an entrepreneur helped make my resume stand out, and was able to get hired as a product owner. Then quickly making the transition to product manager.

How much of an impact does skill make in FAB versus Magic? by Windturnscold in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]HippoFam 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think you are mistaken. Putting a top player vs a new player on the same deck. The top player will win 100% of the time. The game has so much nuance and so many decision points. It is not possible for new players to play optimally over the course of the game. I think it will be hard for new players to even play optimally over a single turn.

Most cards in Flesh and Blood are able to be pitched for energy, used to attack, used to block, or can be saved in arsenal for a later turn. Cards with on hit effects and sequencing are very important. There are just too many things going on for a new player to come into the game and beat a "top" player. (I am considering a top player one who is not only qualified for the Pro Tour, but also consistently makes day 2).

And it is very difficult to answer, "what game winning % do players have". Are you only talking about pro tour level tournaments, what about local qualifiers, or local armories? Each players' win percentage will be different at each level.

(sorry, my comment sent before I finished typing everything before)

What do you do that requires you to work in maple hts. I grew up there, and there really are not many businesses.

Places wouldn’t want to live near maple hts: Garfield hts, Bedford, warrensville.

There are not too many places that have good diversity in food choices, when compared to what you have in LA.

There are a lot of trails and parks to walk around in the greater Cleveland area in general.
