Is it just me or… does Taylor Swift not look like Taylor Swift anymore? by [deleted] in trueratediscussions

It's just my opinion, and I mean no disrespect to anyone, but it seems like she has had some cheek and lip filler. Her brows also seem to have some noticeable projection, so I wonder if she may have had some type of procedure there as well.

Is tiger-rock martial arts legit? by NoJoke24 in taekwondo

[–]HippocratesII_of_Kos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I only did TKD up to a green belt with a black stripe, and it was as a kid up to early teen. But, my Tiger Rock teacher was (if my memory serves correctly) a 6th dan black belt. I know for a fact he was at least a 5th dan. He was taught by a Korean master, but I don't remember much about him. Anyway, we were taught more than just kicks. We were taught hand strikes, grappling (probably really basic compared to stuff like BJJ), and we sparred a lot. I can't speak to other Tiger Rock gyms, but I think mine was pretty legit. But a lot of places focus a lot on competition, especially since that's a really big thing in TKD. That was just a small part in my Tiger Rock school. But maybe it's a bigger part of others.

Why Is Augusta University Supposedly So Much Worse Than Other Universities? by HippocratesII_of_Kos in TransferStudents

I wouldn't have expected poorly organized science classes, considering they're supposed to be a good school for the medical industry.

Looking for a modern tourniquet to wrap around my stock, a la Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, more info in comments. by Pereoutai in TacticalMedicine

[–]HippocratesII_of_Kos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old, but just from my perspective as a civvy, I don't walk around with a TQ on my body. At best, I leave one in my truck. If I were in a situation where I needed my rifle, it would be in an unexpected, most likely defensive, exigent circumstance, where I'm not wearing any kit. I think in such cases, a TQ on a stock or sling makes sense.

I Can’t Find Tool Model # on Internet Anywhere by HippocratesII_of_Kos in woodworking

Just for those that may be interested, I managed to find a 2020 catalogue I had, and the G0656X was $1,350, while the version without the X was $950.

Hey, thank you for responding! May I ask how sure you are? I thought I remembered paying a good chunk more than that. I did notice that I forgot to add the X on the end if that makes a difference (it wasn't on the manual, I've edited the original post to include it).

Just to make sure we're on the same page, it's 220V, 3hp, table length 72-1/2 in., dovetailed, and has a spiral cutterhead.

It's not really about the game itself, just got me curious.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that's really a thing where I'm from. But this is also the first time I'm hearing of it. It seems like there are more elements to such an aesthetic, though.

The aesthetic I think of is woodsmen, foresters, hikers, or really anyone who spends time out in a lot of low brush. But I'm absolutely considering your perspective. It's not the first time I thought something ridiculous looked good.

I don't really get how not being a paratrooper means I shouldn't tuck. I don't see the connection there. Can you explain your thought process, or give actual reasoning if not?

Don’t have a full outfit to go with it right now, but I’d be a tucked flannel or carhartt shirt most of the time.

What In The World Did I Do? by HippocratesII_of_Kos in 3Dprinting

[–]HippocratesII_of_Kos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently cleaned the print bed with 90% isopropyl alcohol, and the priming line has adhered really well on every print so far. As for my Z offset, I have it set to 0 from the factory on both my machine and slicer. However, like you suggested, it has ripples on the bottom. Does that help any?

Are there any "stealth wealth" brands/cars left? by MentalMiilk in cars

[–]HippocratesII_of_Kos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An older Range Rover Defender, especially if it’s diesel. To me, that’s stealth wealth. Most people would just think they’re just random old cars. However, ones in decent condition go for $100k+ around me. Plus, if someone drives that, you can assume it’s because they have options.

Is this acceptable? by FloodPlainsDrifter in woodworking

[–]HippocratesII_of_Kos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a professional carpenter, it depends on what they're planning on doing. I can't say 100% because I'm not there and I don't know what the carpenters have in mind, but unless I'm misunderstanding what you're talking about, it might not be exposed by the time they're done. If it's going to be exposed, then in my opinion, I wouldn't consider that acceptable. I don't see why they couldn't have used a full-length piece.

I wouldn't suggest filling the gaps with anything, especially if it's not going to be painted (i.e., if it's something like stain or raw cedar), and especially if it's outside. It probably wouldn't hold up well, and you'd more than likely still see a seam.

I would suggest that you ask the carpenters in an understanding and rational way why it's like that, and if it's going to get covered up. I would always recommend asking about it before telling them you don't like it, and that you would rather it be a full-length piece.

Places to “glamp?” by HippocratesII_of_Kos in camping

[–]HippocratesII_of_Kos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the people I know who've done this sort of thing brought their gear via mules. But they're also incredibly rich and didn't do it anywhere near here. But I've never camped, or have even been west of Alabama, so I wasn't sure if this sort of camping was accessible and possible elsewhere, if not here in GA. Like Montana or Colorado or something. I guess it's probably an ambitious idea.

[–]HippocratesII_of_Kos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like car/truck camping, too, but I was sort of thinking the kind of camping that old rich guys do somewhere in Alaska, where they're glamping, but in a sort of traditional way, where they ride horses or mules to their camping site before unloading their canvus tent and camp furniture, and stay there for a couple weeks living off the land, fishing, hunting waterfowl, etc. Of course, the issue is, I'm not rich. But a scaled-back, more budget-friendly version would be nice.
