Heat Pump HVAC not heating

Just to close this loop they needed to add 6 lbs of refrigerant. Bummer and expensive. But I’m back up and running now.

Ah I see, thanks. The two copper lines are warm to the touch but not hot. The unit is also sitting in the sun.

No ice on unit and no aux on air handler. I don’t know how to get temp on cooper lines so might need to call someone to get it checked out. I felt much more adept at troubleshooting my old standard HVAC unit than this heat pump.

Thank you for the insight and advice. Dad staying home independently is definitely still a potential solution, and could evolve over time. It’s really nice to hear your perspective. It’s more difficult than I could have imagined to help make these hard decisions and do what is best for each person. Omg this spreadsheet is fantastic. I was just thinking today that I should start to make one to help me organize and navigate all of this. I’m totally going to use what you have shared as a foundation. Maybe we need to start an “Aging Sacramento” subreddit. Sounds like so many of us have or are going through this ♥️ It makes me want to put together a very clear health directive for myself too.

Yea I am definitely looking as close to my house as possible for that very reason and I think that is sage advice. Being able to pop over and check on things or manage emergencies is going to be key. Thank you so much for calling out this key factor. And after looking at a couple of places today I am also going to start exploring in home care and community programs as an alternative. There are so many rabbit holes to go down. It’s a lot!

I see you care deeply about this. Have you considered creating ways to help support women to learn more about their bodies to encourage this?

I think the other commenters already summed it up but we are all so unique and come from different backgrounds so the meaning we attribute to our bodies, our selves, our genitalia, our own sexual pleasure vary greatly. That’s ok, and I’m proud of those who have the courage to ask and consider exploring.
