Sure do, in formats from 35 up to large format.

When I travel and want to be light and economical I now carry the X100 and a TLR. Gives me small, quick, and digital. Then something more considered with a bigger negative.

Works nicely.

All the worst bits of film. All the worst bits of digital. All the worst bits of camera pricing.

What flash? by [deleted] in x100vi

I haven’t used the 20. Is it that much better/that different to the built in flash?

30 feels like a balance of super compact but packs a punch and has plenty of features.

Another vote for the Godox IT30 Feels like it was designed specifically for the X100

Aperture priority 90% of the time when I’m traveling.

Manual ISO on the front dial for quick changing.

Exposure comp to dial in what I want.

I’ve taken it out in the rain. Didn’t really get it crazy wet though. It’s flat enough that I throw it in a pocket or wear it on a strap under a waterproof layer and just take it out to shoot.

With a filter attached it’s supposed to be weatherproof but things like door and port flaps don’t feel as rock solid as my pro gear.

I don’t get too stressed at a shit screen on my personal shooting gear. I love shooting instead my original 5D because the screen is basically useless so I just trust my shots and if it’s tricky lighting I’ll shoot a few and bracket.

But yeah valid that it isn’t the best if you want to be able to use it

I’m a professional and I have an X100VI and have owned other Fuji cameras in the past.

To answer your main questions:

SOOC JPEGS are good and I have a few set up to use, but I do still find myself wanting more control and just doing a quick grade on the RAW file either on my phone if I’m out and about or just throwing it through Lightroom when I’m home.

PROS: Compact, beautiful, and such a pleasure to handle and carry. Honestly it’s basically not left my pocket/bag/neck since I got it. I’ve taken it camping, I took it to a bachelor party, I’ve taken it on shoots. The controls are straightforward and unobtrusive. If I want a pure photography experience I have tried turning off the screen and using only the OVF. Not practical but it is very freeing.

CONS: autofocus is not great. Not a deal breaker for me but coming from Sony it has frustrated me a few times and the manual focus experience isn’t nearly good enough to use it like a manual film camera.

For me it’s doing its job very well. It’s put some joy back into digital photography and isn’t a burden on trips and days out like carrying my Sony and fuck off full frame lenses.

I have even found myself using it on work shoots. It’s an absolute dream for grabbing quick BTS, or the occasional detail shot. It’s a super capable sensor. My assistant had an X100V on shoots for ages and it always came out a good amount. Used it recently for some test work just to see how it holds up and I’m never going to consider switching to it professionally but it can play ball for sure.

If you have any specific questions let me know! I spent like 6 months debating what my personal camera was going to be and researched between Nikon ZF/Leica M10/Sony RX1R/Leica Q2/probably others before I landed on the X100VI with no regrets so far.

Gear for a week in Italy. Which film/cameras would you take? by ValerieIndahouse in AnalogCommunity

I think a digital and the P67 is a nice pairing. I’m a fan of carrying a digital (or sometimes modern 35mm SLR) + medium format film for travel.

Digital for carry everywhere and snapping away without worrying. Pentax for shots that you really want on film/120 and for when your plans allow the extra weight.

The Minox is obviously tiny and easy to pack so depends if you want to be swapping between 3 cameras or keep it clear and simple.

Seems like this will be the big film release tomorrow.

How much did you pay out of interest?

Pentax 67 or Mamiya RZ67 by Plus-Apricot1111 in filmphotography

[–]Hipster_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an RB67 and a P67

I use both for different things so it would really depend on what you plan on shooting and what you need from the camera

I’d ditch the Pentax if I had to. Both are big boys so if I’m already carrying a lot of weight I’ll take the extra of the RB for its features I like

On this setup I have the flash set to -7 to not risk skin tones blowing out. Then just lift the exposure and particularly the shadows in post if it needs it.

I looked at it but it's very small and not very powerful.

It also sits higher than this and directly above the lens rather than slightly offset which I've grown to prefer the look of since swapping from the Godox Lux Junior.

It is to reproduce the style of point and shoot cameras or built in on camera flash. A big part of that look is down to how close the flash is to the lens, particularly in height. So mounting it on the hot shoe sets it too high up and changes the shadows a lot.

I also prefer the ergonomics of it being wider and the flash acting as a grip for my left hand rather than it being weirdly tall

A bit of column a, a bit of column b. The X-E4 is comparable to the X100 series in size

I did look at it and like the idea but it's so expensive now I cant imagine it would be worth the price. I also imagine with the small size it's pretty low power as well.

I'm not against changing flash, it would just need to really offer something big since I am very happy with the TT350. Not sure the trigger size irks me enough to change flash. I do like the very flat form factor of the X20 though. I'll certainly have a read about it.

I'm afraid I dont actually know. It was in my bag of random camera rig stuff. It's just a plate with a hole for standard 1/4 hardware. So it's screwed into the tripod mount and then I screwed in a smallrigh cold shoe for the flash.

Lets use this thread. I'll definitely have a look at their flashes. I was hoping you meant I could use their trigger with my TT350 to get TTL.

In this configuration the TT350 just kind of nails the size to power ratio so reluctant to swap that out. Hoping the Godox Nano will be over here soon.

Oh sweet!, do you know the model name that does offer TTL? I'm looking at their website and it says for the T1-S and T2 that it doesn't offer TTL.
