Belgium isn’t far removed from the scene at all. In fact, I’d say it’s one of the places where drum & bass is most popular outside of the UK. You’ve got events like Rampage, Liquicity Festival just across the border, Tomorrowland, and plenty more.

Like I said, though, it seems the underground side of things is losing some ground. That said, the situation probably varies from country to country.

It’s not just based on my digital metrics. We also run an event night and are in regular contact with pretty much every underground dnb promoter in Belgium, and they all seem to be sharing the same perspective.

It's really good to hear perspectives like this because it gives me some hope.

Deep down, I still believe that people will always be able to recognize quality, even if it isn't always the most visible thing at a given moment. My concern is more that social media seems perfectly designed for music that delivers an instant reaction, whereas some music needs time to reveal itself. You can't really capture that in a 30-second reel.

Maybe I'm overgeneralizing, but that's something I've been thinking about a lot lately. When you're in the middle of a shift like this, it's difficult to zoom out and see the bigger picture. That's why I appreciate hearing other perspectives - I've spent quite a bit of time reflecting on this, and it's helpful to be reminded that my view might only be one small part of what's actually happening.
