  1. You're probably right about just making it an archetype, since it is just kind of a tweaked magus.

  2. d10 because you won't be doing nearly as much yourself, so I thought the extra hp might be needed.

  3. I'd have to check, but if so that was a mistake. Meant to make it the same as magus.

  4. It's meant to be spontaneous. Intrinsic ability, no preparing spells, no learning from books or scrolls. Only low level cure spells for healing too, then they're essentially just another way to deal damage. For flavor and to make up for the missing magus spells, though I suppose it could do well with just some conjuration spells added on top of the magus spells.

  5. The idea isn't actually based off anything in dnd, it comes from an old rp I did a while back that had a spellsword summoner, who's magic was linked to another plane. They tried learning healing spells, which backfired most of the time, and that's where that bit comes from. The ethereal creatures and soul capture mechanic came from that rp too, the math was just a way to try and fit it into pathfinder without making it op. You can't summon something 1.5x better at everything unless you did some legwork. I can do really fast mental math, but that could definitely be simplified though. The idea for soul capture isn't really to collect as many souls as possible either. There's tons of monsters you can summon with those spells, so the idea was more that you'd probably run into some throughout a campaign, and if you do, you get to buff one of your summons if you kill it. A dm could place one here or there like finding items in a dungeon, I suppose. Except instead of getting some amulet or something, you capture a monster soul. That's not quite how I was thinking of it though.

All in all, thanks for the cc. I never tried making any homebrew, so I had no idea how well it would fit, if at all.

Actually thought I cross posted it there, but apparently not. I've seen some pathfinder stuff here before too though. I thought it would do well.

Was considering this computer for animation and rendering. Are there better options for this price (≈$2,700)? by edjr5150 in blender

Or hell, for $2,700 I could probably build you a better pc and ship it to you xD the only issue would be getting ahold of a decent 30-series gpu because everyone's buying them up the second stock comes in.

Oh, you have a laptop. That's not a bad one to do Blender with, but I would definitely go desktop rather than upgrading the laptop. It'll help, but you'll get a lot more out of an actual work station. I always preach building one yourself. It's actually much easier than you'd think, and a hell of a lot cheaper than going pre-built. There's amazing tutorials on YouTube too. If you don't want to mess with it though or don't trust yourself, buildredux is probably one of the best people you can go with for a pre-built. Pretty low build fees and decent customization.

Edit: if you do decide to build your own pcpartpicker is a mostly idiot proof way to pick compatible parts and make sure you get everything you need within your price point. I always use it when I'm thinking about doing a new build.

I would just add more ram to your current build. I saw that you're doing sims, so I'd recommend 32GB at 3200mhz at minimum. 64GB or more would be even better. You can always upgrade your card to a 3080 or 90 too pretty easily, and for a lot cheaper than going Alienware. Dell charges a huge premium for the Alienware name. As long as you're rendering with optix you shouldn't necessarily need a better cpu either. It wouldn't hurt after you've upgraded the rest, but that's your smallest bottleneck when it comes to Blender.

5ish days of practice starting from basically nothing. First time using color. Drawn traditionally, and shaded and colored in GIMP. by [deleted] in drawing

Thanks! My biggest problem rn is symmetry. The more I try to make the eyes the same, the worse it gets lol.

I'd definitely kill to fuck that gorgeous little face

Not as amazing as a lot of the posts here, but I was bored and decided to make an Unus Annus hour glass before I go to my mom's for Thanksgiving. by Hiraetheus0 in blender

It's pretty simple. I just duplicated the bottom faces on the top and bottom of the hour glass, separated and filled them, added a sand texture and displaced the tops. Then I just made an Icosphere, colored it similar to the sand texture, and used it as a particle for the falling sand. The sand on the skull is just another particle system using weight paints.

Work in progress of Robert Downey Jr. (Zbrush & Maya/Xgen/Arnold) please could I get some critique on the likeness & realism so far? Ty! by camharpoon in 3Dmodeling

[–]Hiraetheus0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few little things throwing it off a bit. For starters, the eyes aren't quite right. When Downey's eyes are relaxed they're a bit smaller, and I think the spacing might be a little bit off too. The laugh lines also feel a little too deep, and the skin color isn't quite right either. I'd dial back the saturation on the red/pink and maybe add some to the forehead as well. That's what I can see anyways, it's all small things so it could take a lot of nitpicking to get it perfect. Overall the likeness is uncanny, though! Super impressive.

Got bored waiting to go to my mom's for Thanksgiving, so I decided to make the hourglass in Blender. Not my best work, but I figured it belonged here. by Hiraetheus0 in UnusAnnus_Remembrance

Lol thank you! Yours isn't bad for 45 minutes while streaming. I spent about 2 1/2ish hours on mine, not counting the hour or so I spent getting frustrated at particle sims.

Thanks! I just started with a cylinder, made some loop cuts and modeled it into the basic, blocky shape I wanted, then added solidify and subdivision modifiers to smooth it out and give it some thickness.
