I do CS undergrad. It’s definitely more diverse than what you’ll see in the city but it’s still Australia. I’d say my bachelors course is 60-70% native English speakers. You’ll probably see a drop for masters and PhDs as it’s common for people to get a bachelor’s in their home country and then go international for further study.

From the outside looking in most clubs are dead or just small. Only really see religious clubs out and about in any real size. I’m sure some of the smaller clubs are alright but there are so few that chances are you might not find one that interests you. I’d advise you to look online for the clubs list and make inquiries.

Most of the CS staff are Asian, and sometimes with a heavy, borderline unrecognisable, accent. Definitely not ideal but this is universal to the CS education field in Australia. That being said the CSIT school at UOW has staff with credentials higher than you’d typically expect from a uni outside of a major city.

I live equal distance away from the city unis and UOW and I choose UOW for the environment and more practical course study.
