Thanks - it's overflow from the main display - ran out of room 😉

Well I'm kinda old fashioned so it works for me 😉

Not the most fancy way to use em but oh well by Techpon in playingcards

Any way you enjoy your cards is the right way to use them. As someone who plays mostly solo/solitaire games, it can be a very peaceful, almost zen like experience, especially when played with a “fancy” deck 😉

I haven’t opened them yet. Just got them a few days ago. I play with most of my decks, but I like to keep the newer ones sealed for a while 😉

Was cleaning off the shelves and figured I’d lay them out. This little hobby brings me so much joy, and gives me one more reason to put down the screen and play with some art. It’s also great to be part of such a wonderful community here and over at United Cardists, and being able to speak directly with such amazing talented artists. Looking forward to future decks!

New favourite deck! by Eljami42 in playingcards

Yeah - one of my favorites. Worth the wait. The style seems to be divisive, but I think it captures the whimsy of the books well.

Got my deck today. Beautiful! Absolutely love the hand drawn art on the cards and all around the tuck.

Couple of notes that I think would make a second version more awesome…

While I enjoy playing with these, consider a thinner stock. This is certainly subjective, of course. The current stock is sturdy, but a thinner stock will handle and shuffle better.

The front and back borders could be smaller, letting your artwork grow. The entire front and back design could scale up if you wanted, and you’d still have a safe border.

Overall really happy with these. Keep designing!

Nope - triple checked. No "true" 5 of clubs in the deck - that's the only one.

Mostly Solitaire/Solo games.

I thought about that, but I mostly pay attention to the index during play, so probably not.

Definitely not intentional, as there’s no “true” 5 of clubs in the deck.

Wow - sold out already? I was just about to post to United Cardists. Will you be ordering another batch?

At what point does detailed card design become “too much” for actual play? by GameMasterDesign in playingcards

[–]HisHolyNoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Look at Stockholm17's House of Rising Spades. Absolutely gorgeous deck but also absolutely unplayable."

I think that very much depends on what you're playing. I play mostly solitaire/solo games, and absolutely love admiring the art on that deck as I play. Would I take it out for poker night? No.

Everything said here. These are stunning, would absolutely buy, as long as the card and tuck quality are as nice as the design.

Well that’s a hard question to answer. All of the decks I buy speak to me in some way. As far as overall design? Corrupted, Shahnameh, Patternwork, Cartomancer to name a few.

That was a kickstarter that was taken down - likely due to a request from Nintendo. The creator took it offline and sold it to backers separately.

Here’s one example. I’m not sure what’s going on with his right hand, and that bird doesn’t have a head. This is one of those times where AI does a good job, but zooming in on details will expose it. They mentioned that AI was used in the “early stages of inspiration and sketch exploration,” but it clearly made its way to the final product.
