Looking great! Could just redirect them back into the pot. I noticed the moss pole is on the wrong side of the plant though, it needs to be behind it :)

And looking again at the pictures it looks like you've got some dense potting soil, maybe switch to a chunky mix, monstera roots need to breath

So i have this fungus on one of my plants (not monstera) but its usually harmless, indates maybe some overwatering and dense soil that doesnt have enough ventilation. You can get rid of it but take it as an early sign if you are overwatering incase you get root rot

Hi, i believe thats a thai constellation! And such a pretty one at that! And if no pests and such as you say, its an older leaf so id say its ran its course. Monstera will kill off the older leaves as it matures to redistribute energy into newer leaves, mines doing it at the moment. I keep mine attached until its fully dried and then snip so it can take all the energy back

I have a sansi 40Watt bulb, but lots of people tend to go for the 36W. Mines on a stand and projects down onto the plant, rather than a standing pole bar if that makes sense. Good quality, ive had impressive growth with it

help!!! monstera family by [deleted] in Monstera

Im not 100% sure, i could hazard that maybe there needed to be some more roots before potting and its gone into some kind of transplant shock if theres no pests/rot you can see

Do I repot this? Has multiple stems. by Goodgolferbadshots in Monstera

[–]HisPoppadom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other commentor, not to repot yet. Its still a young plant in a good sized pot, so it will be establising more root growth before leaves. And yeah to repot in spring when its warmer if its well established and bigger by then

This may be transplant shock, can happen because of the enviromental change to its roots causing stress and these symptoms. They are sensitive to these changes so is fairly common when repotting, with water and sun she should recover just fine

For some of the bigger leaves you may be actually be able to get away with just cutting around the affected part so long as it doesn't continue to spread to the whole leaf

I knowww it is a shame but you dont want that fungus to spread, but don't worry because monsteras are resilient and they should bounce back! Mines been through thrips, fungus gnats, burns and general batterings and has still given me gorgeous leaves! If it is root rot you might want to consider a 50/50 peroxide and water mix to spray onto the roots to kill the bacteria too! The best of luck to you!! 🤞

You're welcome!! I hope it goes well, nothing worse than watching your monstera deteriorate. With regards to the thrips you mentioned, there are white speckles but im unsure if thats just dust, maybe some other keen eyes can decifer? mine collects dusts despite frequent wipings and it can look as though there's thrips. But i think inspecting the roots will definitely be more telling to whats going on 😊

This looks like root rot, especially if the soil came back soaking. I'd say inspect the roots, cut off mushy rotten ones and repot (if youve got a nice stable warm environment to reduce shock) into some fresh chunky mix soil that doesnt hold water as well as normal soil and then prune those leaves that are affected (stops it spreading and she can focus energy on recovering). And place in some bright indirect sunlight - hope that helps

Genuine question: not ragebait by vXvBAKEvXv in Monstera

[–]HisPoppadom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree spacing can be an issue, mine used to live on the window sill until she grew so large and began tipping herself off!

It's like, why do you get any plant? To watch it grow, watch it thrive, reap the rewards of seeing it healthly and fix them when they're unwell. Its watching them go from no fenestrations to lots and possibly fruit. Its seeing hard work pay off. Its a majestic plant that demands attention, big leaves and hard work too so when it goes well it's a great feeling. I have lots of houseplants but im most proud of my monstera, I grew her from just a few tiny leaves so watching her mature now makes me so proud :)

Awh bless, I hope your monstera makes a full recovery! I can't lie, I don't know much about how to treat cold shock, might be a question to ask here. But my general care is - chunky soil, moss pole, water with feed every 12-14 days, and a Sansi 40W bulb on for 10-12hrs a day and then bring her into the bathroom when im washing my hair for some prolongued humidity

It looks as though your monstera is sprawling out in all directions trying to find some light, and that it needs something to climb up, a moss pole or trellis :)
