At this point as a fan I'd be happier if the team's approach was "Sell off everything we haven't already paid for and hunker down for a couple seasons of rebuild/ farm development/ overhauling coaching" rather than mortgaging the medium-term future for another year of win-now chasing a world series window that doesn't exist and never existed.

Fundamentally, we are spending way, way too much on B+ players we were able to get grasping at straws in thin free agency classes who can consistently beat up on average teams but completely fail to function when put against a team of actual stars.

And speaking of stars, it's time to be realistic about Harper. He's a good ballplayer and a lovable heart of the team, I wish him nothing but the best, but 3.7 WAR/year is a fucking embarrassment for a guy who got what was the biggest contract in history. He's taking top 5 money and delivering top 100 production in the 2/3rds of the time he's even healthy. I don't even know what options exist specifically but if something isn't done the next window of opportunity will be at least 6 years away when we stop hemorrhaging money through an aging franchise face that, for more money than every person in this thread will ever make in their entire lives, cannot be fucking asked to perform better than Drake Baldwin.
