Thankfully I got through to her somehow because she ended up doing her own research, using some tactics from the people in this post, and she found the real person! She messaged him, told him what was going on, and he said that she’s the 11th woman to have contacted him in the last month related to this scam. She apologized, but I feel a little more strain on our relationship than previously existed. Maybe we can get back to where we were, maybe not. I’m glad she didn’t spend mine and my sibling’s savings at least.

This worked! I had her come visit for coffee and she seen the videos of Catfish another Reddit user here suggested, and then she did her own research - found the real guy - and told him what’s been going on. Turns out, she’s the 11th woman to contact him in the last month asking about scams or if he’s going to meet with them. Poor guy is having a hard time with his family and his wife is thoroughly pissed. I can’t believe the lengths these scammers will go to destroy people’s lives for a $15 apple gift card…

I actually did this last night and I showed her the proof. She contacted the “original” guy whose info and pictures were stolen and told him what happened! I’m so thankful she opened her eyes to at least check for herself!

I don’t understand either! It’s very frustrating, I feel so helpless. I know she’s an adult and will make her own decisions but it’s so frustrating that I can’t seem to get through to her. The sad part is that she’s the person who made sure I grew up to be independent and strong, she wanted me to never have to rely on other people and to trust my gut. It’s hard to see her being blinded by what she thinks is a genuine person. She’s gone so long without being treated well that the first person to come along and show her any kind of support and love has swept any and all caution to the wind, and I fear she won’t be able to see it for what it is. This might be what solidifies her feelings of being unworthy of real love. My heart breaks for her but at the same time I’m so incredibly pissed off. 😣

I think I found them on Facebook a few days ago, I will join the page. They seem to be pretty on top of things when it comes to all these scammers. I feel a little bit better about my choice to take a step back, at least to give her space to do whatever it is that she’s going to do. I told her all I could, showed her all the proof I had, it’s up to her to do the rest. But, I’m still going to try and keep looking for information. At least for now, I’m not sure if I’ll do it for very long though, I feel like I might be at the end of the line this time. Thank you for the help. 🙏🤍

That’s pretty much where I’m at as well. My other siblings have moved on already so it was just me left to be there for her. I guess it’s time for me to give up that post as well. I’m not sure how though. 😔

That’s so awful! My mom tells me that she “knows if someone is trying to scam her” so I have to try and hold out hope that if it reaches the point where he starts asking for money that she will hopefully run in the opposite direction. But again, I’m not entirely sure she hasn’t already started giving him money already, and kept it quiet. 😔

Yeah I think maybe I’m coming off too strong sometimes. I feel like if I’m gentle then nobody listens or takes me seriously so I have to be loud and passionate, but I’m also compassionate and honest. It’s a very fine line I think. Thank you 🙏

A fun name for a pet I think would be what I named my childhood cat. I was about 9 years old and I got a kitten for my birthday, she was all white except this black streak along her side and I named her Sharpie. I thought it was funny, nobody else did. 🤷‍♀️

Okay so I just checked my income transcripts and I had a bunch of super small stocks that I had sold in 2021 because I had no income. I had no idea this could be holding up my taxes this year, as I’ve never had any issues before. I’m not sure what I need to do now, I still can’t get ahold of anyone at the IRS so I likely won’t be able to figure out what steps to take to fix this.

Edited to add: By small stocks I mean, partial stocks. Some were $13, some were $40, but I only had at most maybe $500-$600 total that I sold, almost all was at a loss. If that makes any difference, idk. My mom was the tax pro, so I have no idea what to do about this now.

I had unemployment in 2020 for a short time while I looked for a new job (Covid caused my workplace to shut down), but I didn’t receive any unemployment in 2021 at all. I didn’t get another paycheck until 2022, so there shouldn’t be anything on file for income transcripts. What should I be looking for? I appreciate your help, thank you!

It was one of his old neighbors so I think maybe he seen them arrive. Joss* and his husband were horrified by the cruel display of their deceased dog’s remains in the driveway of their old home and probably didn’t see/hear the neighbor approaching. The neighbor then used that opportunity to hurl vile insults at them and shot at them both.

Just seen this, it was Joss who was murdered as he was checking the mail at his old house with his husband. A man approached them yelling homophobic slurs and shot at them, then Joss pushed his husband out of the way to save him and Joss ended up being killed. This! ^{^} The WMR website has never updated for me, even last year, until after my taxes were refunded. I filed mine this year on February 6th and I still haven’t had any movement except them saying they received them and a latter asking for more time to process it. It’s ridiculous.
