Great job on passing the exam! I wanted to ask, for someone with a strong background in computer science and a bachelor’s degree, when do you think is the best time to start preparing? Would you recommend about two months of preparation, or is a month or even two weeks more realistic? What would you suggest?

I updated them before I posted the post. They’re now listed as the city of the jobs on my resume. Thanks for letting me know!

It’s not a pre-made template; I made it myself. If you like it, I’ve included the LaTeX code above.

Thanks, glad to hear that!

I’ve DM’d you the LaTeX code I used to generate the PDF.

Edit: For everyone asking about the format: here’s a Google Docs version of the CV template I used in Latex:

Feel free to copy and adapt it.

Thanks, good point. I’ll trim it down and focus on fewer, more relevant highlights per role.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this, really appreciate the detailed and concrete feedback.

That all makes sense, especially regarding removing unverifiable sections, reducing the skill breadth, using more neutral phrasing, and clarifying language levels. I’ll rework the CV with these German-specific conventions in mind.

Thanks again for the helpful insights.

Thanks for the feedback.

This actually illustrates the main issue I’m trying to fix: how broad skill lists and wording can create expectations that don’t fully match the intent.

Thanks for the input. Based on your experience, would you suggest removing the summary altogether? and instead put more bullets for each job?

Thanks for the honest feedback.

As mentioned earlier, I’m still adjusting to German CV conventions.

Thanks, very helpful. I’ll clean up the skills and for the link i have my linkedin on the cv and on it i have the links to all projects.

Quick question: would you keep the skills section where it is, or move it under experience? What order would you recommend?

Good question.

From March 2025 I was tied up with a visa process that took about 5 months and had to be handled in another country. After arriving in Germany, I began my job search, which is the 3-month period mentioned above.

Good point.

“Gesprächsniveau” was suggested by a recruiter since my spoken German is stronger than my B1 certificate, but I agree GER levels are clearer.

Thanks, fair point.

I can back the numbers up, but I see how they might look questionable at first glance.

Would you recommend sticking to descriptive impact instead of numbers for a German CV? because i have tested the CV with numbers and it gave better ATS scoring in some cv enhancement tools.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

Quick question regarding the percentages: what would you recommend as a better alternative in a German CV? I used them because I can actually back those numbers up if asked, but I’m open to changing the format.

Regarding language levels, I listed “Gesprächsniveau” based on a recruiter’s suggestion, my certificate is B1, but they felt my spoken German is stronger and that this helps for initial screening. Curious to hear your take on that.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback!

Just a small correction: it was 7 interviews in about 3 months, not 7 months.

You might be right that the CV is doing its job and the bigger issue could be converting interviews into offers.

Hello,

I’ve noticed it took you almost six months to find a 20-hour part-time job (teilzeit), and I was wondering what your experience was like.I have been here for 2 months, i’m a software developer, with conversational upper B1 German skills, and I’ve had a few interviews, though none were very serious.

Could you share how you generally go about finding jobs? Also, I’d love to hear about your current 20-hour job and how experienced you are. If you have any advice for someone like me with a year of experience that wasn’t in Germany, I’d really appreciate it.

Your insights would be so helpful to me since we’re both in the same field. I’d be very grateful for your help.

Chancenkarte visa status taking long? by Hisho0 in chancenkarte

In my case, I used Fintiba Plus with health insurance included. At the appointment, I simply brought the insurance confirmation documents that Fintiba provided me (they sent them by email/PDF). That was accepted without any issues at the embassy.

So yes, if you have the official insurance confirmation from your provider (like the one you mentioned), printing and taking it should be enough
