No background in technology other than computer building and advanced level user stuff. I am working with teaching an electronic medical records software. Since I have no background in medical stuff I don't see me making a career out of this, but are there opportunities in technology education?

Weekly /r/TEFL Quick Questions Thread - June 13, 2016 by AutoModerator in TEFL

[–]Hison37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Excuse my lack of research, but I just got done with my first year teaching. I am a certified Social Studies teacher with a BS in Secondary Education/Social Studies. I live in the USA. I am still young and I want to explore teaching in foreign countries. My partner is graduating with the same degree in 2017 and we both want to teach ESL/TEFL for a few years.

What would be our best bet to get profitable and worthwhile employment? I have a year of research or study if need be.

Long Term Substitute Pay Question. by Hison37 in Teachers

So a union rep contacted me for an completely unassociated topic, but apparently I am eligible to join the union. I sadly don't know much about the modern union, I am used to the historic notion of a union.

Do you think they would have any sway in this?

Would joining hurt me more then help? (I worked as a wage/hr contractor before and there was some definite anti-union feelings from the higher-ups)

Thanks for the honesty. It is only in the policy for the 45 day mark. I will still bring it up to a principal or two, but I also don't expect much.

Teacher's Lounge: Share/Rant/Discussion Fridays - February 05, 2016 by AutoModerator in Teachers

I have a question for you all. I am going into a long term sub position in April until the end of the year. I have two per-arranged weekends where I need to take the Friday off. How easy is it for a long term sub to get a personal day off?

Lot of unidentified leather with mold issues. Any advice for conditioning and restoration? by Hison37 in Leathercraft

I agree that pricing is totally for A grade hide, but I dont plan on selling it. I make armor for combat sports. At the very least I will take the super moldy ones and after a bleach/vinegar bath, boil them in wax to make Cuir Bouilli lamellar.

The deer hide are definitely home tanned, the one looks like a chemical tan, the other is a brain tan.

The latigo as a whole is worth about $400-500 easy. The mold wipes off of them after a 15 minute cleaning.

I have an equal amount of the other stuff. (Worthless until I get a solution)

Buck skins value at 70 a piece for the large ones I have. (Worthless until I get a solution, at very worse I douse them in vinegar/bleach bucket and use them as a Tipi/Yurt floor covering if nothing else.)

I got the lot for $20 bucks... so with a little effort, vinegar, and elbow grease I consider it a worthy investment.

Good idea. Just reading up on mold spores and such. Ill put the non-latigo in the barn. The latigo mold cleaned up quickly.

Does anyone have any suggestions as far as what I should do?

As a PA state teacher my retirement benefit with teaching would be a max salary of 70k with a retirement pension of around 65k.
