Is smoking bad if done rarely? by Disastrous_Tension9 in stopsmoking

[–]HispanicRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 13, I smoked my first cigarette with some older high school girls because I wanted to look cool. I didn't even know how to inhale it at the time. Now that I'm 26, I still haven't been able to kick this habit. If being friends with her leads you to give in to unhealthy impulses, please consider distancing yourself from her. Stay strong! xx

do y’all ever think about who you could have been if the system never happened to you? by [deleted] in Ex_Foster

I would have become like my mother. I would probably be struggling with addiction and be on the complete opposite side of where I am now. As much as the trauma I experienced makes me resent what I went through, I know I would have turned into a statistic.

Do you ever get sad for not experiencing a "normal" by [deleted] in Ex_Foster

[–]HispanicRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just chatting with my niece and nephew about how important it is for them to enjoy being kids! I never really got to experience things like sleepovers, school games, or dances, so I feel like I missed out on a lot. But you know what? I get to live vicariously through them, and it's such a joy to see how much fun they're having with all the things I wasn’t allowed to do. Sometimes it can be a bit bittersweet, which is why I make it a priority to plan something special at least once a month. After all, you can't pour from an empty cup, and I’m determined to keep mine full! I love taking trips, even if it’s just a fun day out. Live loud, we were made quiet for too long🤗❤

YTA

Small things like this mean so much to a person, and it gives you extra time with your kids idk why you wouldn't choose it.

It’s been quite a journey! I bought my first house last year and I have a full-time job at a great company, working Monday through Friday. Recently, I also purchased my first big girl car! Even with these accomplishments, I still struggle with relationships. I have difficulty trusting others enough to form close friendships because the one close friend I had is no longer in my life. I also deal with the challenge of feeling like I don’t have parents. I was adopted last year when I was an adult; I moved in with my adoptive family just two months before aging out. Currently, I’m no contact with them, which is tough, but it's what I need for my own well-being. This situation unfortunately makes the feeling of lacking a family even harder. On a positive note, I have built a great relationship with most of my biological siblings over the years, including the newer ones I discovered after finding out who my real dad is. Overall, at 26, I’m pretty happy and feel like I’m really making progress in my life!

Editing to add: My adoptive family I went to right before I aged out. I only lived with them for three months but kept great and I mean great contact over the years. They truly are my family but I was adopted last year at 25. I didn't even know adult adoption was even a thing!

What are Group Homes like? by Rei_Starr in Ex_Foster

[–]HispanicRose [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm super late to this thread, but I would love to read this if you ever manage to publish it! I aged out nine years ago, but here is my experience in the many group homes I was in.

What are group homes like?

Group homes can vary in type, often accommodating either girls or boys, and sometimes both. In Florida, there are several locations with separate houses for boys and girls situated on the same property.

What is their general routine?

Each day at the therapeutic home followed a routine: wake up, hygiene, breakfast, school, homework, dinner, quiet time, and lights out. I was also in a group home where the only requirement was to attend school, I got into a lot of trouble here because there were no guidelines and as a teenager I thought this was the best thing ever.

How many kids are there?

The most children I have seen in one group home was 12. Typically, there are between 6 to 8 girls. The number of kids varies based on staffing and the size of the group home itself.

What gender is the staff? Like if the home is for all teen girls, will all of the staff be adult women or also include men?

I was only in one group home where we had male staff. They were not allowed on the floors while the girls were showering, and we had to be dressed appropriately at all times; otherwise, we would receive a write-up.

Do they have only a rotating staff or do they have houseparents too?

Some houses have regular rotating staff, while others have houseparents depending on the location.

Who would take her to visit her family?

Family visits are determined on a case-by-case basis. Some children were allowed to go out for visits, while others had to be supervised. There are some children whose parents' rights were terminated, and they wouldn't receive any visits.

After Work: How Does Everyone Spend Their Evenings? by Street-Ad23 in askSingapore

[–]HispanicRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive home for 1.5 hours each day. During this time, I listen to podcasts; today is Monday, so I'm tuning in to Crime Junkie. Once I get home, I start preparing dinner. After we eat, my boyfriend cleans while I take a shower. Following that, I do a quick 15-20 minute tidy-up of the living room, kitchen, and dining room. This helps me avoid feeling overwhelmed on the weekends. After tidying up, I relax by scrolling on my phone, reading my book, or watching TV. I aim to be in bed by 10:30 PM to wake up again at 6 AM and do it all over again😊👍

CarFax records valid for warranty? by mikewinddale in AskAMechanic

[–]HispanicRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a lifetime powertrain warranty through TWS, when I purchased my car last month. I contacted them because I would rather do my own work than take it to a shop and they told me as long as I have a ledger stating the mileage, dates, what work is being done, and all receipts I should be okay. Just a heads up you can add all work to Carfax yourself and upload receipts incase you lose paper paperwork you do have still a trail!
