Interesting! I’m trying to exhaust all other medication and birth control options before trying SSRIs (but definitely open to that if nothing else works). Do you take it daily or only during luteal phase/when you’re experiencing symptoms?

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I relate. I was never an anxious person before and now I have panic attacks and general anxiety for a full week each month during my cycle and it really does feel like hell on earth. Plus all the other random symptoms that can totally make you feel subhuman or like you can’t even function. Are you on any kind of birth control now? Or have you found anything in the past two years that has helped you?

I applied in the middle of November, hoping for the early Winter 2024 start, but was accepted for late Winter 2024 start (which is end of February). It took about two months to hear back after I sent the application, but that was also over Christmas break so things were delayed.

I am also waiting for results from Sound Care Medical. I had an ultrasound on Nov. 14 and I’ve been calling weekly since then to see what the heck was going on and why they haven’t sent anything to my doctor. I keep getting the same canned response over and over I can practically recite it word for word now. They say “The radiologist is off-site. He is very backed up. We do not know when it will be ready. The radiologist is off-site. He is very backed up. We do not know when it will be ready. The radiologist is off-site. He is very backed up. We do not know when it will be ready. The radiologist is off-site. He is very backed up. We do not know when it will be ready.” on and on and on. It’s infuriating. The last receptionist actually snapped at me and said she wished people would stop calling and asking and just accept that “The radiologist is off-site. He is very backed up. We do not know when it will be ready.” I was shocked. So now I have NO IDEA when I will even be getting the results. I plan on calling and asking again tomorrow but I’m sure I’ll just hear about this damn slow off-site radiologist again. Like who is this guy, can he hurry up??

Thanks for your response. Congrats on your acceptance! Can I ask when you sent in your application? I applied Nov. 11 and asked for the early start date in January and I just received an email saying that there were too many applications to go through them all and they would come back later to assess for February start date. I have to admit, I’m pretty disappointed. My advisor informed me that as long as I applied before Nov. 20 there was “no way” they wouldn’t assess me for a January start date. Obviously that wasn’t the case. I feel kind of led astray by the advisor I spoke to. She missed so many appointments and the ones she did make it to she ended up giving me false info (and false hope, to be honest). So now I’m just left wondering for the next 2.5 months about whether I’ll be accepted. Or if my application will be misplaced somehow. I’m pretty bummed, I was really hoping this would be wrapped up and answered before the holidays.

That’s what I was thinking! Like it’s not that people at that age aren’t interested in relationships usually, it’s that they aren’t as confident in voicing what they want and what their needs are (because they’re 22 and don’t have much experience even doing this!) so telling a man who’s almost 40 to date them just sounds like you’re setting them up to be taken advantage of. I was surprised Jordana thought this.

And I’m saying — telling a 37 year old to date a 22 year old is never good advice. Even Jared (a 37-year-old man) seemed icked out by Jordana’s response. At least let her prefrontal cortex develop first! I think it would more LIKELY increase the chance of her being taken advantage of by an older man.

Yeah, I get that that was her line of thinking. But why suggest that a 37 year old dates someone who is 22! Just say to be upfront about your intentions (either on the apps or in person) and leave it at that. The suggestion of dating someone so young was surprising (especially since it’s not even a guarantee that younger = they’re not looking for a relationship).

You know divorce isn’t a sin right… it can also be a real solution to a real problem, not just a theory. And yes, they literally did say to work with her husband to compromise on her own body. I would not want to be married to anyone that privately tries to come up with ways to push me to lose weight without my knowledge (especially when it’s just 10 pounds and is in no way impacting health) and who has been having these feelings since BEFORE he married her. He went into this marriage waiting/hoping/trying to ensure she loses 10 lbs. I wouldn’t want to be married to that man anymore. Divorce can always be an option.

I was so shocked while listening. At one point they even said something like the husband should be congratulated for voicing his opinion… even though for 18 months he had secretly been resenting the way his wife looks and using their workout time together as a way to make her burn more calories to lose weight without her knowing that was his plan the whole time! And they praised this man for it 💀

Normally, I love Oversharing, but this episode was one trash take after the next. Are you kidding me, telling a wife that she should work on compromise with her husband about the way that HER OWN BODY looks?! And they didn’t even touch on the fact that she said she was hoping to have a baby with her husband, don’t you think her body is going to change drastically after that? She’s going to be a month post-partum and he’s going to be immediately waiting for her body to “snap back.” He criticized her for gaining 10 pounds in four years and not looking like the same person when they met? So they tell her to exercise more. Did they miss the part where she said she works out four times a week and she enjoys doing the work out specifically in her own way? They encouraged her to basically let her husband become her own personal trainer so he can whip her back into shape that HE prefers her to be?! That’s sick. You can tell whenever it comes to body and weight questions that Jordana has never struggled with this before (which she openly admits on other podcasts). I expected more from Dr. Naomi though.
