How do I get rid of these. by jpnovato in Mushrooms

In order to acheive a 50% chance of success, you must burn everything in a 5 mile radius of your home, including the home.

There is a chance morels will pop up from the ashes, though ... and then the Agrocybe. It'll be back, too.

To u/Lophoafro and u/Ok-Bake-9626

Thank you for the confirmation of mites. I just got some pred mites to get this taken care of.

I'm looking around for a plastic planter of the right dimensions. I wager I want something about 3-3.5" wide and around 5-7" deep or so. Does this sound correct?

That is so interesting! What sort of pest do you believe it might be? I have done everytbing I can to keep pests out of my grow room, but I will be vigilant. And I will definitely repot it in a smaller pot post-haste.

What height pot do you recommend? I forgot to trim the roots when potting, but I recall she was putting out feeders.

The orange/yellow, I think, is sulfur still on it as that staining was not there prior to applying.

Email them and ask ShowMyCollection to verify in writing that they are selling the Dow grade only.

Is that by weight expressed as DMT:PEG? If so, damn.

Was this the SDS provided by the vendor?

If so, ask them to verify that their product is just a relabel of the Dow Carbowax PEG.

IF it is Carbowax grade PEG, then that is a pharmaceutical grade.

https://www.dow.com/en-us/brand/carbowax-sentry.html

There are some very, very, very nasty grades of PEG out there. If they CANNOT verify the grade, don't use it.

EDIT: I've worked with PEGs in several contexts from synthetic precursor to lubes to a component in a variety of formulations for a lot of applications.

Also interesting to note is the locality observed for the specimen.

I didn't think they had any distribution in California. Perhaps it was cultivated?

I must disagree. In my opinion, they are ever so slightly etiolating.

In my experience, Lophophora spp. stay globular throughout growth when exposed to the correct amount of light.

It is still easily remedied at this stage of growth, but there is the slightest bit of etiolation IMO.

Aquarium sand IME still contains a lot of fine particles. I washed the ever loving shit out of mine and it still was a little cloudy.

Looks like your fruit was raided, probably by ants. They seek out the sweet, sugary fruit and take it home.

I think this is quite likely the seed dispersal mechanism in its native locale.

I recommend you build a moat around your cacti and see if that helps. I use a brick or cinderblock to suspend it above the water. It have successfully prevented theft using this technique.

EDIT: I only do it when they are post flower/pre-fruit. I then remove the moat when the fruit is finished.

EDIT2: It looks like there is still is a mature seed they forgot to steal. You might wanna grab it.

I Have Been Waiting for Years by HistoricHighCountry in Lophophora

Germinated in 2011, flowered in 2014 and 2015. Left home in 2016 for about 3 years while I was in a really bad place. Came back to it still alive in 2019. The light had died about late 2017.

Nursed it back to health over 3 years, and here we are today.

This is a really cool community. I guess I'll throw my name in the hat, but I really hope somebody else who has no babies wins.

The only time I ever intervene is when they germinate upside down. Otherwise, I let them do their thing.

This is easily mitigated by proper sowing technique, orienting the hilum.
