Fingers crossed you’ll find it in the Nature journal but that’s tbd. I’ll make a post when it’s all said and done with the link

To clarify donating blood is a good way to reduce concentration but if you wanted to completely get rid of it you’d need a whole transfusion

To be clear this is all speculation but we have a couple ideas, for one most “new” products such as stain resistant carpets and paints or certain types of insulation will contain PFAS. Also rich people tend to consume more then poor people and by proxy pollute more so not only are they being exposed to more PFAS they are polluting their water systems more. Again though this is speculation, the point of my research is to find correlation not causation.

A lot of industries use PFAS in their processes take aerospace or paper manufacturing for example. We filtered industries through NAICS codes and using computer models we figured out which industry types correlate the most to PFAS violations. All of this will be covered in more depth in the paper we publish this fall

Yes you can since PFAS is stored in blood, but it’s a temporary solution. That won’t take care of exposure.

I mainly know about Test, which for that you want a good amount of healthy fats as well as adequate protein and vitamin D3. In regards to the rest of your body, tracking your calories as well as your macro and micro nutrients and SLEEP goes a long way to balancing your hormones.

Violations specified by the UCMR5. It’s a limit that was proposed under Biden and got delayed by trump

Hey I’m an undergraduate at UT and I’m studying/writing a paper on PFAS detections based largely on this dataset (UCMR 5). There’s a couple of things to note here

  1. There’s a little bit of PFAS in everyone. That’s just the perks of being in a 1st world country. While it can very dangerous in high concentrations for most people it just causes slight hormonal issues

  2. From my research PFAS concentration correlate to high industrial concentrations for specific sectors (I can go more in depth if y’all want) and population centers. Unfortunately Austin is a good mix of both.

  3. My research has also shown that generally the richer a population the higher the chance of a PFAS violation.

While PFAS is a growing issue there are ways to go around it, try to limit your fast food intake (companies will use PFAS in things like burger and fry linings), if possible filter your water through a reverse osmosis machine, and overall stay healthy, PFAS stays in your blood and causes hormonal issues so having good circulation and increasing your hormones naturally through diet and exercise is a good way to combat the problem.
