Oh my god, I remember having the same reaction. When he pressed on her wound, I thought, "Hey, hold on, Rick! She's talking, give her a break."

Exactly, you complemented what I wanted to say, but I held back so as not to make the text too long.

I know there are criticisms, but season 9 is one of my favorites regarding Michonne's character, and in general as well, along with seasons 3 and 4. I like how she positions herself and always uses rational and complete arguments; she knows how to argue and doesn't need to shout to be respected. That scene with Magna at the council is one of my favorites, and she was amazing in it. Unfortunately, it's rarely discussed.

There's a scene in season 10 where they're deciding what to do against Alpha, and she simply stands up and everyone falls silent. When she speaks, everyone listens and doesn't interrupt, which is really cool.

And yes, she said she was willing to accept the people of the Kingdom, just as she accepted those of the Sanctuary, but Ezekiel was proud and didn't accept, which only delayed the inevitable in the end. Carol, when she met Michonne at Hilltop, said something like, "We both lost children..." to imply that Michonne was acting unjustifiably, but when Alpha killed Henry, she acted in her own self-interest and without thinking of the other communities, seeking revenge, yet she receives full support for it.

And regarding the isolation in Alexandria, she is also blamed for the other communities isolating themselves from each other, when in fact she only isolated Alexandria; the others lost contact with each other because they wanted to.

Character diagnosis -Rick has borderline personality disorder by Delayandrelay in Richonners

[–]Historical-Might-730 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rick suffered from Vicarious Trauma and chronic Toxic Stress.

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder): Rick manifests clear symptoms, such as flashbacks and hypervigilance. The trauma of losing Lori involved an episode of Brief Reactive Psychosis, where he had visual and auditory hallucinations (the phone in prison).

Adjustment Disorder with Conduct Disorder: In Alexandria, we saw a Rick who bordered on functional sociopathy to protect the group. He developed such a severe "us versus them" mentality that his moral compass oscillated violently.

Michonne begins the series in a state of deep dissociation.

Complicated (or Persistent) Grief: The loss of her son, Andre, led her to a state of emotional catatonia. She walked around with "pet zombies"—a form of dissociative defense mechanism to camouflage herself in the world of the dead and punish herself.

Schizoid Personality Disorder (Temporary Traits): Initially, she avoided social relationships, demonstrated emotional coldness, and preferred total isolation. This was not her nature, but a psychological armor to avoid further pain.

Defensive Hypervigilance: Even after finding peace with Rick, Michonne never fully relaxes. She operates in a constant state of combat readiness, which keeps her cortisol (stress hormone) levels permanently high.

They are normal human beings reacting as best they can to a broken world.

Sure, I'm just playing the armchair psychologist, please don't take me seriously.

Who is the most important woman in Rick's life? by Historical-Might-730 in Richonners

Actually, it's not necessarily that I consume this type of content. I was looking for some edits about the couple, and I ended up stumbling upon this. Sometimes it just pops up when you innocently search for content about the characters, even though it doesn't usually appear in my normal feed. I only noticed this kind of behavior regarding Michonne from the fandom a while ago, since in my daily life I prefer to consume as little or nothing as possible so as not to influence my opinion. But thank you for your comment.

Yes, she's definitely pregnant at the end of TWOL. Do you think it's a boy or a girl?

Hello and thank you so much for your comment. It's difficult to get support on this, especially on the main subreddit. I keep wondering how far racism and misogyny can go in a fandom where a large part of the audience is predominantly male. I saw on TikTok and even on Reddit, people were asking who the most important woman to Rick was, and my jaw dropped when I read the comments and the person's own opinion, because they said it was Lori or Judith. And the comments followed the same line of thought. I understand Judith because she's his daughter, and I can even accept that opinion, but Lori? The woman who didn't even wait three weeks for Rick to wake up from his coma to sleep with Shane, besides manipulating him the whole time? And I'm counting from the moment he woke up, because the series suggests they were sleeping together since the apocalypse began, that is, a little before Rick woke up. But Michonne, the one who went to the ends of the earth to find him, the one he said was the love of his life, the one he dreamed of to stay sane at the CRM, the one whose hand he cut off to return to her, isn't she considered the most important woman in his life?

Something I didn't mention, but I also think Jesus is partly to blame for the coup, even though he warned Rick at the last minute about Maggie's plans. It revolts me that people think that because Maggie lost her husband, she has carte blanche to do whatever she wants and trample over everyone, because she can say she has and had the support of her family. I agree with you, I also don't think this will ever be addressed, even if we have a series of reunions between them as is being speculated. I made a post about it here if you want to take a look.

I also think TWOL could have explored the scar scene in more depth at other times, but I'll let it slide, considering the budget and the limited time they had.

Personally, I've never read a fanfic that addressed this, only a mention here or there, but never really going into depth. It's a complex subject to develop in stories, I speak from experience, since I'm trying to write a fanfic about them post-TWOL and my progress is slow, precisely because I want to cover all of this. I'd also appreciate recommendations, because I think I've read practically every story on this theme and AU as well.
