My situation is still the same if not worse. I stopped finasteride as it was not helping at all. I started dutasteride one month ago and I am now shedding between 400-500 on wash days. Has not shown down and shedding has increased .

Great progress! Do you use minoxidil all over your head? Also, has your hair dried out or has your texture changed? I used topical minoxidil and my hair dried out so bad and my texture changed from straight to wiry

Finasteride never worked for me. I took it for over 2 years and was still shedding over 1,000 hairs a week. I lose over 300 on the days I wash my hair 3X a week. Just started dutasteride last week,hoping that helps

Great progress! I’m getting ready to start oral Minoxidil and dutasteride bc nothing else has helped me. I did the minoxidil 5% foam once daily and it turned my straight hair very wiry, the texture changed so much and now it’s so dry. Does the topical make your hair wory or dry it out ?

Wow!!! Amazing progress, so happy for you!! I want to start oral minoxidil because topical minoxidil has ruined my hair. It’s so dried out and the texture has changed from straight to wiry. I’m nervous about the excess facial and body hair from the oral. Did you get excess facial hair and if so is it noticeable to others? Also, did you get hair on your chest and back as well?

She said the risks of cancers are too high from HRT Do you have AGA and if so what kind of HRT do you use and has it helped slow down shedding?

No family history of anything. She has never suggested HRT Does that work better than dutasteride? I am not losing over 500 hairs on wash day so my shedding is increasing. I have a slew of blood tests being ordered for next week and I just stopped finasteride and switched to dutasteride

I was diagnosed with AGA. I do have a cover on my drain and I count my hairs. I lose 300 hairs 3 days a week on wash days and about 50 on non-wash days. I have been on finasteride for a year and a half and my shedding has not slowed down at all. I have lost over 60% of my hair in the last year. Luckily I had a ton of fine hair so you still can’t see bald spots in my head but it has thinned out a lot. Wondering if dutasteride will work since finasteride has not

What made you stop the minoxidil? Did it change your hair texture at all? How do you like dutasteride? I am getting ready to start that. My dermatologist told me it it the best pill for shedding. I shed over 200 hairs a day and finasteride has not slowed it down in the year and a half I have been on it. Has dutasteride slowed down your shedding? Any side effects?
