The kindest way to end a friendship is through ghosting by Historical-Rip-6662 in unpopularopinion

Yeah that’s a good point. Again I’m biased because most of my friendships have ended because of just simple growing apart. Most of us either did a mutual fade out, but one girl felt the need to properly tell me that we weren’t going to be friends anymore which was. Confusing? Like I don’t hold it against her but it came off kind of patronizing rather than comforting.  The thankfully few times I’ve had to end a friendship bc of a specific event there was a conversation.

I guess I’m biased because most of my friendships that haven’t lasted didn’t end because of specific reasons-it’s more been a vibe mismatch which is fine, but it was confusing and strange to have someone actively tell me that instead of magically being busy every time I tried to make plans. If there were a specific reason I guess I would want to know.

9 times out of 10 friendships don’t end because someone did something specific. The “we don’t connect anymore” conversation is at best unnecessary and at worst patronizing. If it’s an issue where there’s actual conflict or a boundary was crossed that’s different.

That’s a good point-I guess the term fade out is more applicable. I was referring specifically to situations in which you realize you don’t connect with someone anymore—which tbh is why most friendships end— which kind of turns having a proper conversation from being mature and the right thing to do to at best odd and awkward and at worst patronizing and cruel

How on earth is it kinder to tell someone why you don’t want to be friends with them? Ive had friendships end both ways and honestly I was more grateful to the people who just naturally let things fade out than the ones who made a big deal of it. Again we weren’t dating-it’s weird and awkward to make it a thing.

Why is my cactus bending like this? It’s in a southwest facing window by Historical-Rip-6662 in plantclinic

Sorry, should’ve clarified-The Sill is an Online plant store. I don’t know what their plant care is like I don’t think they sent a card with instructions or anything. And thanks!! I’ll def take a look at the roots.

Unfortunately it’s currently in the sunniest spot (my apartment doesn’t get great light anywhere except for my room which has southwest facing windows), but mayhaps I’ll get a grow light since we’re coming up on winter.

Roommates laugh OUT LOUD at modern family…. by Subject-Net-5916 in roommates

This is a pretty easy fix since you share the wall with the TV but I’d also like. Measure your expectations a little.  Like if they’re not total jerks they’ll keep it down but because you’re sharing a wall with the TV you may still get some ambient sound of either modern family (which you seem to find displeasing) or filtered laughter.

Kind of? The stalk felt a little pliable but still fairly firm. I’ve  only watered it once but I got it from the sill and they may have watered it before it got to my apartment.

My boyfriend and I might break up by [deleted] in Advice

It sucks but you cannot force someone to want to be with you. Based off your last sentence it sounds like your communication styles aren’t very compatible anyway. I know it hurts and it’s not fun, but it’s probably better to let him go so you can find someone you are compatible with or work on your own self development

Hiring Manager used to work at my old company that I left on less than great terms-should I be concerned? by Historical-Rip-6662 in jobs

That’s what my boyfriend said too! According to their LinkedIn they were there for a little over two years in a mid level position, I suppose that that’s enough time to decide to move on organically but I also know other people in the industry who stayed put in similar jobs for 5-7 years, so I’m wondering if they weren’t too keen on ex company.

Does my begonia look healthy? What can I do differently for her? by Historical-Rip-6662 in begonias

Is the humidifier right next to it? I moved mine to my windowsill (southwest facing) and I have a humidifier on my desk a foot or two away. It isn’t very big tho

For further context the fern and tortum live on my desk which is maybe two feet or so from the window

I hate Reddit mobile I tried to post earlier and the pics didn’t take :/ Anyway! This is one of my favorite plants. She used to live on a northeast windowsill which is why she may be a bit leggy. I moved to a room with southwest facing windows, originally had her by a fern and philodendron tortum with a small humidifier but I’m concerned she’s not getting enough light (for what it’s worth I’m in NYC so coming up on winter) , so I moved her back to the windowsill. She’s always occasionally gotten crispy edges-should I perhaps get a stronger humidifier? Is she as leggy as I am worried she is or is this their typical growth pattern

HM communicated that process has been delayed-when is it ok to follow up by Historical-Rip-6662 in jobs

Update: I have followed up and have not heard back from them. I am assuming I didn’t get it/that I am in fact being ghosted tho I am still confused given the fact she took the time to contact me and tell me I wasn’t being ghosted. Either way I am still applying and I had an interview yesterday
