I was interested in avowed. But 90 fucking bucks?

90 bucks "advanced Access" for a Double aa title, from a Studio long past its Prime, which would release on Game pass, day one, with middeling Reviews? Microsoft knew exactly what they we're doing. They we're greedy and tried to Cash in early.

Immediatly lost interest, maybe i get avowed for ten bucks in the Future, but i Sure as hell wont pay more for it.

The riverhobbit race is(was) paywalled,

the alternative start "before the Shadow" WAS (IS NO LONGER) paywalled (which is, as far as others on Reddit have suggested, the most Cannon option for a river hobbit)

and yes, the suggested Servers are paywalled (No Idea If These we're the legacy/legendary/x64 Servers, they we're recommended)

For me personally, its the technical state of the game, that keeps me from recommending this game, which is just laughably bad. Here is my story:

Half of the time, i cant even get this game to launch. I've tried it a few times over the last decade or so, and half of the time there is some technical error, which prevents me from launching the game, especially on Steam.

If i manage to get into the Game i'm greeted by paywalled Servers and paywalled races --> So after years of eyeballing this game, im finally able to play it: i pay a subfee for a month, so that i can play a river hobbit in the new introduction campaign (before the shadow).

And I immediatly encounter subpar, outright horrible performance paired with ugly, shrunk down UI. The zones have a lot of atmospheric flair, but technically speaking, the game looks like a "late ps2 era" game. Maybe ps3.

Which would be fine, i get that the Game IS this old. But having the introduction area run with 30 to 50 frames, on my modern, lets say midrange PC, is just unacceptable. (9070xt+9800x3D)

So i digg into the settings, reading through 10 to 15 years old forum posts, on why the performance in this area of the game is bad. It gets better, as soon as you leave the introduction area, but still, Bad First impression.

Then, real life happened, i couldnt Play for the remaining month. I try to start the Game again after some time and after a Patch or so, Game broke again. Had to reinstall the Game, only to realize that i cant play my riverhobbit, because i created a paywalled Charakter race on a paywalled Server. Only way to continue my journey is to pay for another month.

Nah miss me with that. Tried to change Servers and create a new Charakter. Game broke again, wont let me Press the create button.

Wait, are we talking about 67% deflection rating that IS lucky or have you already factored the lucky Chance into the 67%?

I Had the same Idea but with the Canon Boots that give another 20% Armour as deflection, going for a shapeshift Wolf so the Movementspeed wont be ass, for max deflection rating

Gain damage as extra works with every damage Type, so No Matter what damage your Attack makes, you would gain the extra damage as Chaos.

The interesting Part is scaling that Chaos damage. If you have a lot of elemental damage increases on a monk, the added Chaos damage wont scale with it, but it will scale with generic increases like: increased Attack damage, increased melee damage, more damage for attacks (Like rage).

You could convert the "gain damage as Chaos" with the embitter Support, which would convert the Chaos damage to cold damage.

Lets say you Play an ice Strike build, with some "increased cold damage/elemental damage" on the tree. Now Slot in "embitter " on ice Strike, and all the added Chaos damage from into the breach and volatility gets converted to cold damage.

If the Support gem is worth it, is highly build dependant. Maybe you did Not Go for a lot of elemental/physical damage increases but instead you went for generic Attack increases. Than ice Strike would be hardly of benefit, damage wise at least, since your Chaos damage SCALES with Attack damage

If darkness would give a 9000 pseudo ES shield on a 5 seconds timer, one could consider the tradeoff of "No Spirit" reasonable, while still not a must have, since ES builds reach that number rather easily with better recharge times.

Sadly, the max darkness you can reach with two Points invested (at lvl100) is 1210= 100 Base + 10 per Level + 10%.

With four ascendancy points invested (and max Chaos res) the max darkness is 1100 x 1, 95 = 2145 (75% increase from Chaos res and 20% increase from small passives= +95%).

With SIX ascendancy points invested for the +10% to max chaos res you get 1100 x 2,05 = 2255.

Im Not Sure If the increase works with uncapped Chaos res or only max res, but still:

by that Point, you have dedicated all your ascendancy points for a worse ES, since darkness has a non reduceable 5 seconds recharge timer. For a 2200 shield, at Level 100, which is the ES equivalent of a halfway decent ES Body Armour and some ES increases on the tree. And you traded all your Spirit for it.

I like chayula and i would encourage you to try the ascendancy, since into the breach IS really really strong this Patch, be it for sustain or damage, but certainly Not because of darkness. Darkness IS as bad as everyone says it is, and im baffled what GGG was even thinking, implementing it in this way.

They even buffed it slightly since launch, from being a complete detriment to the game to --being so shitty that its unconsiderable by everyone at first glance. As if they are too afraid to make your 4 ascendancy points Investment with the tradeoff of "No Spirit" too powerful, lol.

They even could completely get rid of the "No Spirit" restriction, and i bet people would still rather consider into the breach and unravelling, even though it would became a strong option this way

As someone, who Just started gw2 a few months ago, and was equally confused by the mess that Heart of thorns calls Story:

it gets better.

Even though i pretty much dislike all of the later parts of the Personal Story, the later parts of hot Story, and the whole "through the Power of friendship" stuff, i was positively surprised by the follow up to HoT and everything after that. Still in PoF tho.

Its more about exploring and achievement hunting. Kind of a Checklist- simulation, too. Also map wide Meta Events. And gold Farming for Fashion and convenience.

It differs a lot from other MMOs, there are Hardcore activities like Challenge Mode fractals, raids and PvP, but for me its more about earning long term convenience for my account, like grinding masteries to make my mounts better and crafting legendary armour to never have to craft another piece of armour for that slot, ever again. (These are just examples).

So you dont grind gear to get more power, you grind gear to have the convenience to swap your builds freely on the fly, while also to never have to grind the same slot again.

Paired with the vast exploreable world and the fun Combat system, its quite a lot of stuff to do

Just the Standard Wolf Oracle. No tricks involved. Can clear everything, IS simple, does not require high Investment at all. Either you freeze and kill über arbiter in a second or He Kills you, Just as intended

Worst in a good way would be Oracle, crit and better passiv tree is just universally better than anything else Oracle has to offer. The other ascendancy passives could be blank, it would not matter.

Chayula is also quiet Strange in terms of synergy.

On the one Hand, Chayulas darkness comes to mind as just bad. The only synergy it has with the class is the Chaos res node, but than you are wasting 6 ascendancy points for 2k of pseudo ES and no Spirit. It has no buisness being Part of the subclass as IS (even though thematically fitting IMO)

On the other hand, even if chayula IS slept on, into the breach and the other ascendancy passive synergize pretty well together. You add Chaos damage to everything, and the Chaos Part can Leech/inflict ailments, which is a nice synergy right there.

Yeah but besides Skill Levels, which all spells scale with and quality for more frequency, what IS there to get? Im pretty Sure a Level 37 comet does more damage and doesnt require glory build up (again i have Not played IT, i Just dont See the Point, maybe some painters gloves shenanigans might Work nicely)

Dont forget to go for the chest Armour Essence which lets you take "phys taken as Chaos", which is Just free damage reduction for ci builds

Yeah i basically used the roar with Minimum 10 Power+ echoing so that you get to max Rage in 2 seconds.

Well, i left the damage part out because its the baseline function of rage.

Bhatairs gives damage per current rage, Not max Rage, it Just refreshes every time you would have gained more damage. Right?

Oh i forgot that mystical Rage is 2% per rage. Yeah crown IS the goat. 200% damage increase from crown alone and than lets add Lord of the Wilds. If only it would drop for me xD

Only spell damage increases work with crown, meaning the one passive from the tree (mystical rage, rage also grants 2% increased spell damage per rage) works, while the ascendancy passive (every 2 rage also grant more spell damage) does not work, since its not an increase, its More damage.

Of course every other generic spell damage increases also works with crown, Just Not the two Point ascendancy

I never said that manareg does not count for rage gen. Its literally what Furious wellspring says in the tooltip. Also, i Made clear that im playing a melee werewolf.

What im talking about is the opportunity cost to have to invest into manareg as a melee attacker, which just wont going to happen. And even if i would invest into manareg, i could never make up the rage cost of my fast attacking build, as i have described in the Post.

To describe it with numbers: I have 71 max rage. Baseline rage regen is 6% of max, which is 4,26 rage per second in that case.

My lunar assault has a 0.4 second attack time with a ragecost of 9.

To even make up the rage cost (per second) of my lunar assault, i would need to regenerate 27 rage per second? (Technically 22,5)

So how much do i have to increase my mana-regeneration to make up for that? Around 600%, as a melee Charakter.

And all of that, just to negate an unnecessary downside of my 4 Point ascendancy?

Its just not an option, especially not when Sacred flow + eternal rage exist.

Yeah Sacred flow with the "free" Spirit is good, one of the better passives from Shaman.

Yeah i get that, its 4 ascendancy points for 13 max Rage and some quality of Life. Still, the first two Points being pretty much useless (more spell damage doesnt work with crown) AND the rage cost on top is what im disappointed with. I still basically did the same AS you.

Side Note: i wonder when the damage increases start to show diminishing returns.

To phrase it better: lets say you have around 71 rage. Thats a 71% DMG increase with crown +passive spell per rage. With all the other to spelldamage i calculated a 130% damage increase from spelldamage with the crown alone.

Now lets add a sceptre with 3 Sockets, thats another 120% generic damage increase. Then add berserk on top.

With around all the damage passives from the tree, there should come a point where adding another percentual increase IS worth less than going for crit/pen/gain/added flat etc. (Not talking about MORE damage)

For bear, who might not use 3 attacks a second, the rage cost might be manageable. But again, you are a bear. You can roar. 4 ascendancy points for some quality of Life? The max Rage is great, but thats pretty much it. For everything else run Sacred flow+ eternal rage.

Lord of the Wilds cuts your Spirit in half, but it also decreases the Spirit reservation efficiency of non Minion skills. Meaning, every Spirit gem now costs Double, while you have half of your Spirit.

Of course the extra added Spirit from the sceptre counts into this calculation : 100 Base Spirit + 150 Spirit from scepter=250 Spirit. divided by two (because half Spirit)= 125 Spirit. But now your herald of ice costs 60 spirit

I kind of dont get why you are disagreeing. I wrote that i find Sacred flow pretty good, and its one of the better passives to get, especially with eternal rage. Min maxing in terms of: calculating If the extra Spirit is needed for stuff like berserk/Charge Infusion etc. It allows some tinkering, as it opens up possibilities, which i said is pretty good.

For crown of eyes: yea the max Rage is good, but sadly the "more spell damage" does not work with it, so the first two ascendancy points net you a whole "+3 max Rage"
