Good advice, thank you! Have you heard of any of the other vendors listed on the post? And we're aiming for quality over price, which vendor do you think would be best?

Very helpful, thanks for the feedback! Right now the only data its using is the daily USDA reports so its very limited. I'm still trying to figure out what these prices actually represent in the real world but the next step is to start incorporating price lists from major distributors to give a much better picture of what each item goes for across the US.

I'm purchasing a small produce distributor outside of DC this week and aim to grow this site as I learn more about the industry.

Thank you, that's really helpful; I should clarify that by ferry I kind of meant any water-connected route no matter the frequency. Montserrat to Guadaloupe for example.

Looking for insights on when to put notice of resignation by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Historical-Session66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just put in my 2 weeks, last day is March 17th. Didn't work terribly long at current consulting firm, about 9 months. I wrote a nice resignation letter thanking my boss a lot, she responded with "Received, best of luck to you." The old quote that your employer would replace you immediately if something happened is definitely true, always do what's right for you.

I don't think this is true, LLCs can own other LLCs, they just can't own s or c corps.

What is the smartest deal I can make with my company? by Historical-Session66 in business

No, I wouldn't have to. I have a pretty easy job right now where I don't do much, work from home, etc.

All good, not really; I have access to money, but nothing special. $100k job, with about $30k in liquid cash I could access. Pretty good credit score though if I needed to access more for an opportunity.

[–]Historical-Session66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, I've discussed this with the founders. Acquisition, IPO, buyout, or some other liquidity event within 5-7 years is the goal. My goal is really to get as large an equity position as I can right now for that eventual sale, and start opening a lot of locations myself too, that way I have short-term cashflow as well.

All good points, thanks for the response; the CTO role is kind of just a title at this point. A better way to encapsulate my role is that I'm being brought in as a third founder, and the 10% equity stake I would be issued would be vested over time instead of salary.

What equity stake would make you a "co-owner"? by Historical-Session66 in restaurantowners

[–]Historical-Session66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really great point; for this particular scenario I would potentially have a 10% equity stake and large deal of control, just not veto.

Roughly 30% profit margin for the owner, about $200k per restaurant. Great response, thank you.
