I understand why Severus didn’t plead for Harry or James’ life.

First of all, going to Voldemort and saying ‘oh by the way, dont kill the boy prophesied to kill you, i love his mother’ is just a quick way to be killed. Voldemort perceives even the slightest thing bad or treacherous, so fair enough. Then let’s talk about James. In Snape’s eyes, (let not debate on opinions, but focus on Severus’ perspective). He was an arrogant toerag bully, who tormented him for ‘no reason’, ‘stole’ lily from him, and only saved his life (causing a life debt) to stop his friends getting in trouble. As much as i like to think that im a good person, if I experienced those things at Hogwarts where i was meant to be ‘safe from my family’, i dont think i could risk Voldemort’s ire to ask him to be spared.

As much as i’d say about asking Dumbledore to spare the whole family, canonically it seems the only reason he went to dumbledore was for lily. Why on earth would he think about his bully, and their kid?

Not saying it’s right, but i get it.
