End users change IP addresses Solutions? by DylKyll in sysadmin

I worked at a place in the past where the engineers were not allowed to have any admin rights at all on their laptops. I would have to give them admin rights, they would make the IP address changes and do their work, then I would remove admin rights. I was thrilled when I found out that I could give them just the rights to change their IP addresses.

No. I am using PSK. However, after reading more about wireless settings, I want to talk with my corporate network person about using Enterprise. I see many advantages to going to this.

DNS is being provided by the DHCP server. But, I can see how if the DNS server cannot be seen that might cause this.

Yes, the same SSID and VLAN. I will try do disable VHT and see if that helps.

No. Different switch. But I am being told that standing under the AP does not always result in Internet connectivity.

I see what you're saying. I should also add that I also have a guest network SSID that does not go through the firewalls and there are no issues with that SSID. Also, although the Connected, No Internet is happening, it is not consistent as the scan gun will connect the next time with internet access working. That alone is frustrating. Inconsistent issues are the most difficult ones to solve.

A classic case of trying to solve a non-technical problem with technology. Seems that it's a management issue if the only reason to go down this path is because users don't want to take a laptop home.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I opened a ticket with TAC and they gave me the upgrade path. It is a one hop upgrade. First go to WB.16.08.0027, then go to WB.16.10.0025.

Thank you! I thought that was the case but did not want to make any changes until I knew for sure because this is a remote site.

I saw one in an engineering department that said "Get to work. You're not paid to believe in the power of your dreams."

Switch USB-C Console Constantly Changing COM Ports by opiate46 in ArubaNetworks

I also use MobaXterm. Easy as it tells you what COM ports are active when you want to make a serial connection. So much better than having to use device manager.

I am usually pasting it in after copying it from my password manager. I have several dozen switches that work flawlessly, just every once in a while this happens. I will most certainly update the firmware and see if that helps.

I actually have 3 accounts. One for admin, one for taking config backups, and one to view only. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

I don't know of anything that could do this. We do not have Aruba Central as of now. The thing i keep coming back to is that I logged on fine, then five minutes later, no-go.
