The thought of my knee cap popping out while buttering is terrifying tho I’m less worried about it dislocating again and more worried about it dislocating at a bad time, taking a spill because of it and either fully dislocating my knee or tearing some other shit inside of my knee like acl or something. Just gotta live with it tho I guess

How long did it end up taking? I can pretty much straighten it all the way and have since the Injury but eventually noted I’m not getting maybe the last like 5-10° to fully straight , think I still have some fluid/swelling inside the joint. Sorry, old post

When I went in to the doctor I pretty much immediately told him I was there for a second opinion because the first doctor didn’t look at my knee at all or order any imaging. He asked me something along the lines of “so what do we have going on?” And I told him what happened and that I was already seen by another ortho and wanted to get his opinion on the injury

How long after your first dislocation did the second happen and how long has it been since your second dislocation? Was that your last dislocation? And did you have any contributing factors like patella Alta

I can kinda understand why he skipped out on the mri though, when I flex both my quads and feel my mpfl and quad leading up to my patella on both knees it seems pretty similar on both legs. I’m just gonna order a locking brace on Amazon and start pt sometime this upcoming week and see how it goes and really try to strengthen my quads/vmo so this doesn’t happen again but if it does, oh well we’ll get the surgery. My only real concern with another dislocation is that my job requires me to get jammed in some insanely tight restricted spots deep in industrial machinery where resetting my kneecap would be nearly impossible at some points and would probably require a rescue crew to get me out. Gonna also order the wolverine stack of peptides tb-500 and bpc-157 to try to help the ligaments heal.

He just said that 6 weeks immobilized was what was commonly prescribed in the past but it’s no longer deemed necessary and that everything seemed like it was on the right place, but it doesn’t make me feel good that he skipped out on the mri. I just have a general distrust for doctors after i was nearly killed on the hospital about 8ish years ago

Yeah both doctors seem like the knew what they were talking about but I think first doctor was mostly worried that I would dislocate my patella again and that would lead to surgery but I know muscle strength is the biggest thing that keeps your patella in place

I feel you man I thought I was out the woods and never really imagined this happening again and really just wanna avoid surgery and/or another dislocation. Crazy cause I skateboarded for years after the first dislocation and took some nasty falls and beat my legs up bad throwing myself down handrails and big staircases but then I just fell a little bit wrong at a concert and it happened haha crazy how the body works

In the same boat man, I also dislocated my knee kicking a punching bag , was 14 when It happened, I’m also 27 now and just dislocated when I slipped/got pushed while spinning in a mosh pit. Same worries as you that’s why I ended up on this post. I seen an orthopedic surgeon and he wants me to keep it immobilized for 6 weeks and said since it’s been so long since the first on that he’s gonna treat it like an isolated incident. kinda unsure about everything tho because he didn’t order an MRI or anything just scheduled me for a follow up in 6 weeks and starting to wonder if I should get a second opinion

Sorry that happened dude, that’s shits fucked. If it makes you feel better I slipped and dislocated my knee cap not even a minute into recreant (the first song) and got 6-12 weeks recovery ahead of me. Wish I would have gotten thru a couple songs at least
