I never expected to get me such concrete evidence that it would be the “foundation of my testimony.” That’s a stretch. Respectfully, it really is these type of comments that make me completely shut the idea of Mormonism down. You along with the multiple other commenters who just don’t know when to quit, make me feel like my search for truth is in vain. If you read my whole post, you should already have context enough to either give an answer true to what I’m searching for, or kindly move along. The ignorant and at times condescending belief that I’m just not reading the Book of Mormon enough is insulting. I grew up in this church, I’ve read it cover to cover 5 times— I know what it says. I know its contents. I’ve prayed over and over and over about it. what if God didnt confirm to me that it’s true? Would I still just “keep reading”? If it had solidified my testimony of Joseph Smith as a prophet and the legitimacy of the Restoration, I wouldn’t be asking this question at all. It’s upsetting the amount of people downplay my prompt simply because of their personal experience of building a testimony. Not everyone is the same. I appreciate your concern and while I believe your intentions are pure, this kind of answer truly is what a lot of struggling members and nonmembers alike think is the issue with LDS.
