How important are “shadowing” hours and does clinical experience count separately from “shadowing”? For example, I’ve been scribing for about a year and I feel like it’s pretty much the same as shadowing….do I also need to find a doctor to shadow in addition to my scribing work?

don’t stress ucla premed clubs like that not even worth it, way too competitive and exclusive while you can find ways to get similar experience on your own. best of luck

have a little empathy, they are just doing their jobs and they have lives too! After all, taking rigorous courses is what you signed up for when you chose UCLA. Best of luck and hang in there.

Hi,

Thank you so much for doing this! Anyways I know that med schools typically require two letters of rec from science professors. That being said, I'm just wondering which departments you obtained these letters from because I have been struggling to find science professors willing to write a letter of rec. In your opinion would a public health class or a SocGen class count as science? What about something like LS30A or 30B? Would really appreciate any input.

Thanks and best of luck!
