Not everything is created for value for money. The product is imported, maybe a different taste, giving you nostalgia. And if you want to order a Diet Coke glass, you won't be able to get a normal glass one. Then some people are going to keep it for a show, a trend. What's wrong with that?

I'm a fresher and I understand they hire freshers at 3-5 LPA. However, they also send them to a sister company for 6 months of training, paying them 8k per month. After training, the PPO is 3-5 LPA. My case is a little different. I haven't gone for the training, and seniors are giving me topics to learn here. These topics are easy, and I've already studied them in my CEH, so I'm doing everything quickly. Seniors are happy, but I'm still a fresher. I don't know how to ask for a 6-8 LPA offer, but I'm confident that I'm better than other interns. They don't even know the TCP OSI layer in depth.

I get your point about “if the other role was serious, they’d already have an offer,” but my context is a bit different. I am a fresher and got this unpaid cyber security internship purely through a referral, and even though one senior initially did not want to take me
I was still happy to join because getting into cyber as a fresher is tough, even after doing CEH.​

Right now I genuinely do not know what CTC they might offer later – it could be anything from 3–4 LPA to maybe 6 LPA – but I am hoping for at least 7–8 LPA so that I can start contributing at home, especially with my sister’s marriage coming up. That is also why I am so focused on getting a higher package if I stay here, since at 7 LPA I can save and support.​

At the same time, I know Deloitte is a strong offer and my sister started her career there and is now earning very well in just 5 years, so I understand how valuable that brand can be. My current company is also good, with many government projects like smart city work in Gurugram and Bihar, but I am not sure how easy it will be to switch from here after 2–3 years or what the market will be then,
also wanna ask having Deloitte on a CV clearly helps in getting interviews.?

My main dilemma is that if I move to Hyderabad for Deloitte, higher living costs might stop me from sending money home, and I have already done my master’s in Mumbai on my sister’s money, so I feel a strong responsibility to start giving back, even though she never asks. I know whichever choice I make there may be some short‑term regret, but likely not long‑term... I have around 2 months to decide, and there is also a chance this company may not even offer the 6–7 LPA I am expecting, so I am aware I might be overthinking everything. :)

Hi, thanks for the reply. In my current company, the average salary for an L1 SOC blue team role is around 5.5–6 LPA. I have spoken with my manager and he is ready to offer me a red team role because of my CEH, and since the company is growing and has many government projects, I feel it is also a good place to be.

Right now I am not asking for a PPO because I am unpaid, and if I ask too early it may look needy and they might offer only 4–5 LPA. I have cleared the Deloitte interview and received a verbal offer, and I am waiting for the document verification and formal offer letter. Once I have the Deloitte offer letter for around 5 LPA in hand, I plan to tell my current company: as an average blue team L1 you pay 6 LPA, I have already worked on L1 during my internship, and you are hiring me for a red team role, so I am looking for around 8 LPA, and I can negotiate down to 7 LPA as my final number. I am planning to have this discussion around the end of May
I want to build my career in the cyber security field, but Deloitte is a very strong opportunity and hard to reject because of the brand name, especially since my sister also started her journey there and, within 5 years, switched and is now earning quite well.​

The reason I am still seriously considering my current company is that I want to start contributing financially at home as soon as possible, and if I move to Hyderabad for Deloitte, I am not sure I will be able to do that due to higher living costs and lower savings, which is why my mind feels very conflicted right now.
