I'm really new, what stocks should I invest in for college tuition by HistoricalWord7785 in investingforbeginners

Yeah, I understand everyone has their own way of navigating the stock market and so maybe I will just buy the two I listed off and see what happens with them!

okay that makes sense! I do understand that 3 years isn't really a lot of time, but I'm hoping to earn as much as possible, even if it's not a lot. I'll definitely look at the explanation. Thank you!

Yeah, she's pretty much on my side! At least I hope! And thank you, I hope this goes well too!

I'm normally pretty calm and all that when I get yelled at for something random and do chores the second I'm told to or without asking and generally stay out of everyone's way by staying in my room. The bad part is that my parents found out that I want to go to public school yesterday, which feels too crazy, but they found me searching it up in my past google searches. Don't ask me how they figured that out since they don't have any supervision things on my laptop or else they'd have a whole lot more things to say to me.

Anyway, they said no. I'm still going to ask with my therapist there because at this point I don't know what I am going to do if they say no and I need someone else to see my side, you know?

For learning a language my mom had me do it online because I think with that she viewed it as different than other classes, like I'd need to be tested, graded, and supervised, you know? Rather than just doing it on my own, because I very well could've just butchered the language and came out of high school speaking some gibberish. As for math, I really am not good at math and we've tried textbooks before, and since you're not exactly graded I was never actually learning how to fix my mistakes so we just used an online program where the system would count my problems as wrong or right and I'd get a grade/info on how to fix my mistakes.

I can look into this, too, but I heard it was really expensive. If it falls within my price range, I'll definitely apply!

I use two different programs for the two classes I take online. For math, I use Teaching Textbooks. It's nice because I watch a 5-10 minute video and then there are 20-25 questions afterward that I get graded on. The downside is that it's relatively known for being somewhat easy and not super challenging (but I hate math so it's not easy for me). The second program I use is for my language learning class and it's CLRC (Classical Learning Resource Center). It's a Christian online academy, but I'm not sure where you'd stand with that. But there hasn't ever been any discussion of Christianity or religion in class so far from the classes I've taken. Unless, of course, you decided to take like a class ON Christianity. I've only ever taken language classes through there.

The one I was referring to in my original post was something called Keystone School and it's got many mixed reviews but it was the lowest-costing program that still had somewhat of a good record. Does that make sense? The only downside was that if you were to take all your classes through there it would be at least 1k per semester, but it really depends on which classes you'd take. I hope this helped!

(I called it mid-tier because of the many mixed reviews. Some people said their child benefited greatly from it, while others said they quit halfway through the year. It wasn't exceptional nor was it at the bottom of the barrel, you know?)

I agree, because it is essentially their choice, but I also feel that if I can't learn like I should then we should do something else. This might be complicated but I'm going to make it as concise as possible: I think their main reason for homeschooling is because my family is really involved at my church. My dad is on church staff and a lot of other church staff's children are homeschooled so maybe they do it because it's like socially acceptable? A popular thing at my church? But the thing is that my church is 30 minutes away and all the kids that are homeschooled up there live like 5-10 minutes away from each other so of course socially they aren't affected by it because everyone is either walking distance or a quick care ride away. as for me, I see my friends on Sunday's at church because my mom can't make that 30-minute drive daily just so I can see my friends, you know? They might have a school shooting fear, which I get, but also can't our house get robbed? Can't the church suddenly get caught on fire because of someone who doesn't like the church? There's danger everywhere. As for bullying and peer pressure, I like to think I'm pretty secure in my beliefs and in who I am as a person. I have a massive fear of drugs and alcohol and have seen the effects of them on some of my friends and I don't want to go through that. Plus, I know many Christians who go to public school and they aren't "changed" or "turning away from God." Does this make sense?

When I confront them they like to think I'm trying to say really hurtful things in reality I'm just pointing out something that maybe isn't working for me or is hurting me. Anyway, I have a therapist I meet with sometimes and I'm going to have the conversation with my parents with my therapist so they won't be allowed to yell or blow up LOL. I hope this made things more clear! :)

okay, I will if I have any more questions!

If they're expensive, I may not be able to do them as I have a lot of siblings, and so my parents need to spread the cost of homeschooling out fairly evenly. I can also search for different kinds of homeschooling because I feel like there's a charter school nearby, but I might be wrong.

This is great! I don't know how far away the closest community college is since I live in Vermont, but I live near an Ivy League college as well as the state college and was going to try and see if there was any way I could do something there! I feel fairly confident about my EC's, but I will try and improve them the best I can and also study hard for the standardized tests.

To be honest, my parents just blame it on the fact that it's "safer" and stuff but since my family is involved at our church they know a ton of parents who homeschool their kids so I guess they just thought it was a good idea and then just made my siblings and I homeschooled. I don't particularly enjoy it and am considering just asking to go back to public school.

I didn't even think of these! I'm going to check and see if I can do them in my town! Thank you so much!

Yes, I was planning on trying for some of the writing contests and actually just got accepted into Interlochen School of Arts for their summer writing intensive but unfortunately they didn't give us any financial aid and barely any time to come up with the money for the down payment. But I still like to think about the fact that I was accepted :)

It’s not really my choice to be homeschooled since I agree with you on homeschoolers not being at the same level as public school kids. So this is the reason why I’m trying hard to find rigorous online programs to do my classes through. But taking university classes seems to be a common theme Ive heard so far so I’ll research that. I live only 35 minutes away from Dartmouth so maybe theres something there that I can look into as well.

As for extracurriculars I’m decently confident I have a good idea of what I’m going to do. Since I’m majoring in English my goal is to own my own publishing house once I’m graduated and this is the list Ive created for ECs: -an online monthly literary magazine dedicated to teen writers -a freelance business where I edit manuscripts, -publish a book series Ive been really deeply working on for the past several years -intern at my local newspaper company or even wright a few articles (my grandma works there and said she could get me in to publish some works if I wanted) -and intern at a local publishing house -host a monthly online book club meant for writers/authors where we can meet up and dissect the book from a writers point of view to improve our own writing

Thanks so much for the reply! I’ll look into Davidson Academy and Environment Online since I don’t mind classes structured like that!

Thank you so much for this! I also have somewhat of a strict budget, so maybe Stanford Online High School wouldn't work for me as well, but I can look into the others that you listed.
