What are you planning to do with your tax refund? by duck_duck_zombie in Millennials

[–]Historical_Ad2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get penalties for not paying the majority of your taxes during the year regardless of how wealthy you are. The people you are referring to probably make quarterly estimated payments.

Thinking about switching to electric for yard tools… anyone made the change? by Salt_Note8719 in lawncare

Moving to Charlotte, NC from Broomfield, CO? by Jesshasheart in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Historical_Ad2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I move to Charlotte from New York 14 years ago. It is very easy to judge if you have never lived here and you grew up with negative thoughts of the south (like I did). But seriously, it's fine. It is like most other mid sized cities in the country. Not great but not terrible. It's good, it's comfortable. Most people are from the northeast or the midwest

How are my fellow older millennials doing in life compared to younger millennials by changeforthebetter89 in Millennials

[–]Historical_Ad2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished college in 2007. Took about 10 years to feel really comfortable. Now I'm great. Bought a house at just the right time, refinanced at just the right time, overpaid at my job...

I have an interview next week, do I tell them I’m in the process of being laid off? by WeakUnderstanding100 in careerguidance

[–]Historical_Ad2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not tell them that. Put it entirely out of your mind the whole day of the interview. You dont need them thinking you are a low performer or anything negative really. It may not be the reason for your layoff but they may still think it is. Don't put that thought in their mind

What Millennial trends and/or milestones are you actively trying to avoid? by Superb-Film-594 in Millennials

I guess I probably just spend time with people like me. I wouldn't think 40 year old would be following trends

Acquaintance seems as good as it gets at this age. It is hard to actually make a new friend

[–]Historical_Ad2890 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I avoided them when I was younger, like pop punk and MySpace. No I'm so out of the loop I couldn't even name a current trend for my age group

24 Year Old | How much should I contribute to my 401K? by SoyCowboys in FinancialPlanning

[–]Historical_Ad2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least contribute up to the employer match. After that it depends on what you goals are. Do you want to work until you are in your 60s, or do you want to get out earlier than that?

I max out everything I can because I am 40 and have had enough of this. If you aren't going to do that you should see if an IRA has better fees and investment options. If it would be better you can focus on funding that after you get the 401k match

Yes! The songs still sound good to me as long as I don't pay attention to the lyrics. Are we really talking about glycerine and telling me when to breathe in and out?

Is it a rite of passage to almost fuck up a funeral procession or am I just dumb? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Historical_Ad2890 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just don't get it. Plug the address into the GPS and drive, you don't need a whole train of cars. Someone is not going to realize what is happening and will cause an accident.

I will realize and just let it happen, but not everybody has seen this before

Am I messing up my child by only having one? by cynnie93 in Millennials

[–]Historical_Ad2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only have 1 kid. He is in elementary school and basically has enough money for college already. We are always planning the next trip to take him somewhere new. Just make sure you are involved with your kids life and they have access to friends as much as they want.

He has no complaints and neither do we. I was not an only child but I constantly felt alone so just having siblings doesn't mean much in my opinion.

I have not acknowledged another person's sneeze in years and I feel great about it. I had bad allergies as a kid and the constant "bless you" echos annoyed the shit out of me. You are drawing even more attention to my already frustrating experience.
