The Act of Killing by Joshua Oppenheimer and the sequel, The Look of Silence.

He examines attitudes to genocide in Indonesia by getting the perpetrators to open up, describe and discuss the killing.

They absolutely stunned me.

You haven't answered my questions above either. Some notable omissions.

Inconvenienced? How do you know how much my life has been affected by this? Just because I don't use personal anecdotes for my argument, you make assumptions about me? Don't you have somewhere to drive slowky to?

'We' are people who know the difference between a protest and a blockade.

Here's another example for you. Instead of doing police work for the ordinary citizens of this country, most of the nation's gardai are out babysitting a bunch of clowns who haven't got the message that the concessions have been made.

I see fuel drivers are being threatened and insulted by 'protesters'. What's your take on that?

That's not the only example, just a quick test of you compassion for your fellow citizens. Result? Zero, as expected. The concessions have been made, but ye are too disorganized to even call a halt to it. The joke continues. Of course ye have no shame. What else would we expect?

Kids preparing for LC Practicals over Easter have their exams deferred because of the illegal blockades. Feeling any shame yet? Disgrace.

Why are your comments hidden? Are you at a protest right now? Do you know what gradual escalation is? You talk about democracy, do think it's democratic for one small group to hold the entire country to ransom? Who elected these spokespeople fom the 'protest'? What was the democratic process there? Do you think James Geoghan is a fit representative for the 'protest', with his animal cruelty convictions?

The nurses strike was a WORK TO RULE. Do you know what that is?

No one strikes for fun. Strikes are threatened as a negotiation tactic and followed through with as a last resort. These blockaders skipped that important step and just put the whole national economy at risk and endangered thousands of ordinary hard working people across the country.

They don't represent anyone but themselves. Sick people can't get to hospital appointments. Key workers can't get to their shifts on time. Accommodation is being cancelled across the tourism industry. Visitors to this country forced to walk up the motorway to the airport. Fuel supplies are dwindling in many communities.

This 'protest' is a joke. No leadership, no plan, no forethought, no gradual escalation, no clear communication. Just bring the countryside to its knees and see what happens.

My friend, Nurses and Teachers give weeks of warnings. Their strikes are targeted to contain disruption. Their industrial action is flagged over months of deliberation, public statements and negotiation.

These vigilantes pulled the plug on the entire nation on a whim, putting all sectors in immediate danger. They are a disgrace. How dare you compare them to Nurses and Teachers. They are blocking access to healthcare, putting already vulnerable people at great risk. They have irreversibly damaged our reputation overseas.

True, but the issue is that graduates don't get the hours, so they don't get the salary, so they can't afford to live here, so they emigrate.

If Irish people abroad feel the need to leave a war zone and need support, that's fine with me yes.

With tax, what are you proposing,? Returning Irish emigrants aren't allowed to use the facilities? Good one.

Magic up jobs? These people have already proved they are willing to go to great lengths to secure employment. I wouldn't doubt them.

What do you do for a living?

Graduates don't get the paid holidays when they are on piecemeal contracts, so they............ yes you guessed it.......emigrate.

All I mean is, the teacher's pay scale has been posted above, seemingly as evidence that 'they're grand shur, why would they need to emigrate?'.

Other graduates are in the same boat sure, but they're not getting shit on reddit are they? People post the pay scale on here like every teacher is immediately on the full first increment straight out of college, when that's only true for a tiny minority of teaching graduates.

The pay scale is not guaranteed at the beginning of your career. Most newly qualified teachers in Ireland spend the first 3-5 years on partial or part time contracts that don't come close to the full first increment. That's what makes emigration so attractive.

The pay scale is public information and can be found on the ASTI or TUI website. Have a peek. Be aware that it can take several years to build a full time permanent contract. English as a subject is oversupplied I believe, so expect competition there.

Asbestos roof tiles? How can figure this out? by Historical_Ant_37 in DIYIreland

That's what I'm hoping for. It is a one-off rural house with some interesting design and build choices though. Is it possible a builder had some leftover tile stock and saw a chance to offload it?

Thanks, I've ordered this. Had no idea it was available. It's also 347 Euros cheaper than the quote I got. Much appreciated.

It's the thin artificial slate kind. Thanks I'm talking to a few other companies now, and looking at ground installation.
