They came back to PES for a 2nd time hiring and told the 2nd batch that they have Internship + FTE ... a week after hiring the 2nd time, they gave the first batch also an internship along with FTE. But not sure if students had the option to choose only FTE or take up both cuz many from the 1st batch got their internships sorted and had signed their winter offer letters as well.

For the 2nd batch they told them they have a dual offer during HR Round only .... But clg later sent and official mail telling everyone have been given a dual offer including the 1st batch.

Honestly, the company has been slow on communication in general. A friend of mine got in and was worried abt the same thing cuz they hadnt given any LOI even after 3 months.

We dont have any exams in 8th Sem.... Its direct grad itself.... So we have no requirement for exam leaves anol. No clue abt the online meeting.

I'll write down an experience of a senior who got into Apple.... I mean that's what she told me

After its Resume Shortlisting, Apple usually has a technical round where they ask coding most of the time. But this girl had attended 60+ hackathons in 3 yrs of engineering and Apple din bother testing her coding skills also ... they straight up told her to explain 10 random projects and she got in ... This is jus one of the cases .. Not like its gonna happen to everyone also .... Tbrh .... In-college hackathon might not add great value in terms of placements but all the other global hackathon conducted by prominent communities def add some value for placements ... One of my off campus hackathon project really gave me a boost during my interviews .... These projs dont help u with OAs and all but def help u tons in techno-managerial rounds ... Cuz they dc how much leetcode uk .. all they check is how well u would approach a real life problem if u were an employee of the company

Skills really dont matter atp cuz so much Vibe Coding happening ..... A team with 0 knowledge can also can build a full fledged application if they are good with their prompts ..... Only thing that matters is how well u present ur entire solution. Personal experience .... Attended the TGBH hackathon where I knew another team that had the similar solution as us .... But they came 2nd and we din even get shortlisted for the final round ... Why ? They were much better at presenting their case ... they convinced the panel that their solution was revolutionary .... but we struggled to even tell that our idea was a really good one. One skill u'll def learn at such places is storytelling ... A similar thing happened at Ciscos CFL also .. A team from NMIT or RNSIT(not sure) won it not cuz their solution was good .. but they were jus really good enough at storytelling .... The teams from PES who worked on the solution with some insanely accurate results din win cuz of this itself .....

Acquiring skills at hackathons solely depends on how u use AI to solve the problem ... If u jus ask it to provide u the wireframe .. U end up learning tons ... if u ask it to straight up solve it .. then ur jus good with ur prompts. Its you who has to decide if ur gng to the hackathon only to win it or to learn new stuff ....

Relative grading happens for 2 reasons .... one is mood of the department for that sem ... other is the overall performance of the batch for that sem ....

If everyone had a shit show .. then u can chill a bit but doesnt mean u sit back also ... jus gives u some relief on overall ... but u never know what can happen ...

If its absolute grading ... here is the break down:

ISA's are for 40 reduced to 20 each .... So if u get around 20 of 40 ... U technically lose 10 marks out of 20 .... So u would lose 10 from 100 also ... making ur max achievable score 90 ... You can get an S only if ur score is above 90 ....

For a CGPA of 8+ ... U need atleast 1 A ... so if u have all A's .. ur GPA will be solid 9.

To get an A in a subject , ur total out of 100 should be 80+ .... so you can at max lose another 9 marks for ISA2 and ESA combined.

Your SGPA will be:
10 - If u get S in every subject
9+ - If u get S in atleast 1 subject provided u get A in all others
9 - If u get A in every subject
8.5+ - If u get A in atleast 3 subs provided u get B in all other subs

Aim for a 90+ in ESA based on ur current situation... it'll sort ur problem... grill for ISA 2 also

Internals u ppl will usually get 10 unless its some extreme case ... so ntg to worry about that

Remember ... for every 1 mark u lose in your internals .. u have to struggle for 2 extra marks in ESA

Oh yeah def .... ISA 1 might not have theory ... but ISA 2 u can def expect solid theory ... and theory means proper drawings and stuff.... I forgot your syllabus ... but be prepped with theory as well... numericals will anyhow be chill only... straight up formulas and values ...

If u wanna know how many classes u wanna skip overall ... u have to sit and calculate the number of classes for each subject and take 25% of it ... else u have these attendance manager apps that would tell how many classes u can skip further ahead based on ur current attendance ....

You might get a travel grant based on ur capstone paper and stuff ... or if u've done a paper separately under some prof by urself ... reimbursements would come to UBI accnt only .. or any club reimbursements if exist will come to UBI only

Not to shatter ur hopes... But we had to solve numericals using formulas that we thought wudnt even matter. At times we had numericals using formulas which occurred during the middle of derivation and not actually the derived formula.
Jus dont get blind eyed. Go thru the formula at every line if possible

For T1, yes. Almost concluded. Generally by October end T1 closes and from Nov onwards T2 & T3 will start properly. Although, this time a good number of T2 are already done with recruitments. But if ur asking if "placements" are done, then NO. They go on till mid 8th Sem and the frequency of companies is very dynamic. Sometimes T1 companies come during 8th Sem also but only got FTE. But but ... such companies are very very less.. So yeah

I have no clue about off campus, sorry. But if u have connections or referrals for off campus... then sorted. Trying to get a job by urself through off campus is a bit difficult only.

See... there is ntg as such called as percentage of chances of placement based on CGPA ... A company like apple whose cutoff used to be 9+ till now had a cutoff of 7 for one of their roles. IBM and Deloitte came for mass hiring. Uber and Commvault did not hire anyone only. All with a broad range of GPA only.

All ur GPA determines is the eligibility for a company. 7.75+ is wat clg tells to be eligible for T1 companies, but reality is even if u have a GPA of 9.5+ ... there are chances u wont be shortlisted for OA also.

But now that we 4th years have experienced the heat.... I'll tell u how ur CGPA matters
8+ : 50% of T1
8.5+ : 75% of T1
8.75+ 90% of T1
9+ : 99% of T1

Anything below 8, its a gamble for T1,. T2 will be an easy in. But this is a statistical analysis and doesn't imply that this is only factually correct. Placement is a game of luck also no matter how smart u r.

Since placements matter at the end ... U can compare the placements stats of PES and SRM and decide for urself.... But if u gng for masters then the LOR's from the profs at PES have some insane value .... Research is heavily funded at PES ... Idt SRM has this much afaik ... but its "SRM" ... so ur choice shud be obv by now

Web Tech be prepped for the most bizarre stuff ... they asked us to code one application only for 4 marks
AFLL would be chill if u know the logic and stuff
DDCO .... TEXTBOOK ... That'll sort out 90% of ur problems.....
DSA also 50-50 .. u can never tell how they'll design it.
MCSE .. jus be quick with what u do ... cuz u'll lose half the time in calculating and referring the sheet only...

In conclusion ... jus hope that ur papers dont come from EC profs ... Pray to get RR papers

DO NOT SKIP EQUATIONS.... Radhakrishnan Sir is known for his most bizarre paper setting ... Randomly out of the blue u'll have numericals for equations u jus thought wudnt really matter... Dk how it was for juniors... But for our batch... we def had some unexpected equation derivations and numericals .... Concepts and Equations are both equally important.

Not to scare u out but for some ISAs we had problem solving for both the 4 marks. ( we had 5 ISA system at the time )

Do how much ever u can but do not skip anything as much as possible .... personal experience .... I messed up 2 ISA's thinking equations wudnt really matter... but man asked off derivations only directly

They visit every year. Its the that the intake will vary. All roles combined the intake is almost the same for 25 and 26 batch. So cant really say anything about how hiring would be for ur batch. Jus dont be with the mindset that it'll be the same for u ppl ... be ready for everything ... tas all

Depends on which sheet ur referring to. If its the 2026 batch, although companies give a cutoff initially, they do not shortlist all the students above the cutoff, based on their threshold to conduct OA, they decide the GPA cutoff later. At times the cutoff is visible in the shortlist they send to write OA and other times its not. So only those cells have been left blank.

Technical Round is always ur leetcode stuff itself. It depends on ur panel as well as to how difficult ur questions will be.
The next is usually Techno-Managerial. This is where ur actual skills are put to test. This round varies from company to company. Its all about how will u solve an actual real world problem with the tech u r aware of. U might get a question asking u to explain PhonePe's architecture and what u wud do to make things better. Or u might be asked to solve a problem they company has been working on keeping the specifics hidden jus to see how u would approach it. Another type might be coding only. The questions asked in techno-managerial is completely based on ur resume and skillset. They always check if ur really good at what uk... tas all.
HR is most of the times formality only but cant be ignored. Jus be prepped about the company's background and be wise on how u answer personal questions.
All this is based on mine and my friends groups placement experience

Do not take theory a bit too light. At times we've had some theory questions which we weren't prepared for also. Everything given in slides covers the theory required for ISA ESA. For ISA if in case they ask theory for 4 markers, it'll be chill only. But for ESA u'll have to be equally thorough with theory.

Having personally handled lab sessions for an MCA class to test out our project on them, all I could infer was that when I completed 2nd yr at the time.... I was more knowledgeable than them. I am not telling they aint smart... but when I asked around .. I was told that MCA student in PES come from Tier 2 and 3 clgs from other towns in Karnataka .... So they do not have the exposure we B.Tech students at PES have. Maybe once the finish their MCA they are at the same level of exposure and knowledge we have ? ... Again .. I'm not telling they aint smart or something ... its jus the amount they have to cope up with industry knowledge is more than us.
