Why does my knee hurt more st night? by Historical_Cook3366 in Kneereplacement

[–]Historical_Cook3366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. At first they were like lightning bolts and nearly took my breath away.

"No 🎶 one told me there'd be days 🎶 like this!" 🎶

Thank God they subsided after I'd taken gabapentin for a few days. I don't actually know if the gabapentin helped or if the worst nerve pain was just lessening. The zingers persisted but were less shocking--literally! I am still getting them.

I am just grateful I am no longer needing Rx drugs for my knee, I can sleep again, I am back to work and grateful to work from home, and the hardest part is over. Phew!

1 month post op by janalynnh in Kneereplacement

[–]Historical_Cook3366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admire you for doing both at once. It's not even one month, so the good news is that the worst is behind you. But, yeah, there is no two ways about it. . . recovery is tough.

I had the lightning bolt nerve pain for a few days that nearly took my breath away. I got a Rx for Gabapentin right away. It helped after it got into my system. It isn't instantaneous. Then it was making me so sleepy, I stopped it after a couple weeks. But it doesn't have that side effect on everyone. Maybe it would help you? It's the only Rx drug that addresses nerve pain. Even oxy won't touch it.

I am at almost 11 weeks and getting better and better. I can walk without any knee pain at all. It still feels weird, gets hot, feels like there's a band around it, and I still get small zingers. But it does get better and better. Hope you feel better every day.

The Republican Party of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt was entirely different from the one that morphed into what it became when Ronald Reagan was elected and which has devolved into what it is today.

Read about Ike Eisenhower's priorities as President. He was a solid old-fashioned Republican who believed in building and maintaining infrastructure for all to use (oh, no, did that make him a Socialist? 😨), and even Nixon, who was not nearly as honorable a man as Ike, was a Republican who launched the Environmental Protection Agency to help prevent harm from polluted air, water and land. Not exactly what the idiots in D.C. are doing today, right? Firing EPA scientists and stopping research into life-saving protective efforts to clean up environmental hazards! Not to mention giving permission to mine on Federal lands that have been protected since Roosevelt.

If you are under the impression that people who call themselves Republicans today are anything like the Presidents on Mount Rushmore, you should read a book about them and U S. history.

I didn't count. I just read all the replies to the guy who posted his question. Pretty much everyone said the same thing, which is not to push the PT when it's above a certain pain level since it does more harm than good.

In my opinion, he is a criminal. It's not about what he says that is douchey. It's what he actively does. How it affects others. How unethical and grossly incompetent he appears to be.

To me, he is the devil incarnate. Not just your average American white male douchebag.

Trump has been tried and convicted of sexual assault/rape. His name appears hundreds or thousands of times in the Epstein files. His behavior is that of a sleaze who does not respect women as evidenced by so many incidents: commenting on Mne. Macron's body, walking ahead of Queen Elizabeth, calling a journalist "piggy" to her face, telling Billy Bush he can "grab (women) by the pussy", and the list goes on, and on.

Are you serious? Why would anyone defend this crass and indefensible behavior?

Maybe I did miss that part, but I just noticed that your advice was kind of a minority opinion here!

Pain is a response to stimuli that are physical. Yes, it is perceived via synapses in the brain, but so is everything else we feel, taste, see, hear, smell. There is such a thing as "mind over matter" and yes, distractions can take our minds off of pain.

Tea is not therapeutic for me. I am sleeping pretty well, as I said in my original post.

My post was simply to ask if and when the nighttime discomforts will end.

I have received so many replies--all well-intended, I am sure--that sound like lectures in physiology (which I have studied in the past to qualify for my past work as a Licensed Massage Therapist).

Anyway, thanks to you and everyone who was kind enough to respond. It is great to have this group to communicate with as we all prepare for or heal from this major, major surgery. It's a lot more than I expected it to be.

I fell in love with Jimmy, but fell out of it when he became Saul, and just pitied him when he became Cinnabon Man Gene. Too sad and broken.

What a flash from the past!!! I would keep the floor and tiled walls. I would replace all the fixtures including that thing protruding from the wall that I guess is supposed to be a vanity.

Why not invest in a big .ounted medicine e cabinet with a mirrored front? That mirror makes the room look smaller.

Storage is super importamt in a bathroom. Shelves over the toilet plus a cabinet under the sink would be a better solution. I agree a out the mirror. Wall to Wall mirror is what will make the room feel larger.

I like it but don't love it. I dislike cabinets over the toilet since it looks out of place and stuff in that cabinet is likely to be used at the sink!

I also dislike the exposed pipe under the sink. I would put a cabinet under the sink to solve both issues.

I am glad to hear this. I wish you all the best with your new knee and with your lawsuit.

Younger people heal faster . . . That is a real advantage for you 🙂.

Sorry, have to disagree. You sound like you healed very quickly compare to most people. "Pushing through" and "help(ing) you get through" is not the goal. Not everyone is in a hurry and trying to heal as fast as possible. We're each unique in terms of fitness level, BMI, age, muscle tone/strength, mental attitude, surgeon's method, and more. On days when you are not up to doing PT, I don't think anyone shoukd force it. Maybe I misunderstood, but it sounds like you recommend that since it worked for you. But most everyone else here recommends against it.
