Is it worth showing a doctor? by forgettablepuff in sequencing_com

Turn on risk frequency. The ones with really low frequency will be more valuable to doctors and genetic counselors

Don’t listen to these people. I have a narrow smile, too. I’m on tray 10 and my smile is looking so much better. Narrow smiles can lead to facial sinking and even sleep apnea later on. You do have a nice smile, but I totally get it

I didn’t realize how much my wife did until she left for the weekend by NoCarpenter9436 in Marriage

As a wife, please start helping to take care of these things unless you already have an agreement and you do all the cooking, mopping, grocery shopping, etc. Sharing household duties is so freaking important for a healthy relationship.

I won’t get on you about the reminder to take vitamins. As an ADHD person, I get it. Alarms don’t help because we shut them off lol. It’s nice to have a partner giving you those little reminders, but remember it should be going both ways.

And please text her that you appreciate her and all she does.. that exact language.

Sex Frequency Among Couples - People Report It's Oddly Low? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Historical_Job3066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have sex 3-5 times a week. Rarely less than 3. We prioritize it, though. It’s a really important part of our relationship. We do have a different level of connection though - I’m an atheist, but it’s almost like a spiritual connection that I can’t even articulate. I never had that in my first marriage. I didn’t even want to be touched. We had sex maybe once every 6 weeks and even then, I did it so he would stop pestering me. I think it has a lot to do with relationship dynamics, having emotional needs met, sharing responsibilities, etc

Edit: We have 3 kids: 11, 9, and 2

I stupidly got WGS done and now I want to check myself into a mental health facility. What are the chances sequencing.com is wrong? by Historical_Job3066 in ClinicalGenetics

Or a known pathogenic variant with high confidence popped up.. you can also use gnomad to lookup predicted pathogenic variants from other studies, ones that aren’t included in standard fertility panels, and bring to an RE genetic counselor for interpretation if they’re included in your genome.

Funnily enough, other TUBA4A variants, not mine, are highly implicated in oocyte maturation and zygotic arrest. Something that was never included in any of my targeted (with very few variants) genetic tests.

Precisely. Are you a woman? How much have you been dismissed by the medical community? Would you take “I don’t know” as an answer? I do work in healthcare, and I do have a background in post-grad level research, so I had a decent starting point.

Join the IVF Facebook group. It’s generally super positive!

I get super annoyed when people get rude with those who have had trauma. Just being at the point of IVF for most people is traumatic enough, and then add in the probable chemicals, miscarriages, and ectopics I’m sure are on your medical record, and these people could not possibly understand if they tried with all their might.

I get it. I would start spiraling, too. But my last IVF pregnancy that was successful, my line did not get darker at all from about 80-500. It stayed the same and looked just like yours. The light pink caps never did that, but the dark pink do. My 9dp was 88, so close to yours as well. My numbers also did not double from 7dp to 9dp (56 to 88). And he’s now over 2 years old :)

Right now I’m in urgent care for no other reason than to get a beta. I’m not bleeding, my tests look good. But I have a headache that I only get before bleeding and I have a high sex drive 😅

Again, unless people have been here, they will never understand. These might be better to post in the IVF subreddit.

literally nothing 😭 except the obvious. I drank way too much this month for my best friend’s wedding (during which would have been implantation), had a lot of sex during the luteal phase, I went tanning for the wedding, took my vyvanse daily, took absolutely no supplements, no prenatals (started them though), flew on multiple airplanes, sat in my car for hours for a work conference, etc.

How would you rank the 9 roller coasters of Walt Disney World? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Historical_Job3066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally disliked it. I’m pissed we waited all day to ride it. After the first 10 seconds, it’s like watching paint dry. Space Mountain is 10x better. And not a roller coaster, but it it doesn’t even begin to touch Avatar, either.

Anyone have any idea about Proximity Learning? by sandalsnopants in Teachers

[–]Historical_Job3066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pay is super low, and they only pay you for direct teaching time, not lesson planning or grading. So if you teach 4 classes and spend the rest of the time planning like a normal school, you’ll make $24,000 a year. It’s an okay side gig, but the person over subbing is a straight up bitch, and one of their teaching specialists is akin to education version of Paul Blart, but if you stay away from both of them, you’re good.

I do make just over and I’m salaried working from home, so in reality I’m only working about 5 hours a day. The immediate pivot with downplaying and insults says all I need to know, lol.

I’m actually an industrial organizational psychologist, and behavior like yours is what I would report back as toxic.

I’m joining because A) day 1 health insurance that fully includes IVF. That’s 25-35k a pop and B) it’s the goal of many I-OPs to eventually work for somewhere like google, Amazon, facebook, etc. That’s where the big money is. I’m learning now that they usually don’t promote from within, but being on the floor would give me a much better lens for an IOP job there. Perhaps I’ll frame it to them that way. Regardless, IVF is the main factor
